Minelab Manticore

If you don't own a detector yet, pick one and go have fun. If you like the Manticore i can pm you a couple places to pre order one. You have to pay in advance though. So have some Minelab money available.

Did you throw out the baby with the bath water?

I believe I'm one of the few that wants something entirely new. No pieces of the CTX. None of the E Trac. No Equinox 1600. New ideas are awesome.

It would be.

The only reason I would like to see an E-Trac 2 is, in my experience, I have yet to swing a detector with as much deep cherry-picking ability as the E-Trac. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist, just that I have yet to swing one.

A lighter, faster, BlueTooth waterproof E-Trac would be very nice. So far, for me, FBS has been better for the job I need than SMF/Multi-IQ.

I agree.

The soil depth test looks really great....maybe too great!

I mean, ....just how deep does one dig, for that measley clad dime?

My dream machine is an E-Trac 2.

How about an E-Trac that is lighter and better balanced, continues to take aftermarket coils and aftermarket/non-OEM batteries, has better separation (tho the E-Trac 1 is better at this than people give it credit for), is better in EMI (tho the E-Trac is not so bad), works well in wet sand, and is truly waterproof. Maybe even throw in something unexpected like GPR or ultrasound in.

While the Manticore seems to get some of this, possibly on the ergonomics and the beach, us primarily dirt hunters will have to keep dreaming, it seems. For me, it will be how it does in mineralized dirt and how it feels on a very long day of hunting, and can I hunt in the rain (my E-Trac 1 goes off the rails even in light, steady rain).

I think the key here is " us primarily dirt hunters". So far all these new detectors look great for the beach guys, but not much for the rest of us.

I think they need to focus on a couple non crossover detectors. It would either work good at a beach or work good inland. And perfect that. Minelab should have upgraded the excalibur already. Imagine a beefed up excalibur with a meter that was accurate that worked better than the sov gt meter did.

Agreed. I think these new lines are fair relic machines as well as the beach, but just nothing new for the dirt hunters.

I just watched a video of the Legend in a park and wasn't impressed at all. The few clad he did find weren't very deep and didn't sound very good. It falsed on iron and when he turned up the iron bias just started finding pull tabs. Tones I thought were not good. Time will tell I guess.

Maybe Garrett will hit us with a new dirt detector?

That’s interesting. 2 year warranty makes me nervous. Maybe after all the warranty costs with the Nox they’ve backed off a little.
Or maybe it’s a mistake and it is actually 3 years ? Something to keep an eye on
