All, I evidently need to replace the battery in my Deus 2 controller as it will not charge at all. I charged it for several hours the other night and now nothing. The coil will work with the headphones so I know those items are good. Battery is a little over two years old so a little surprised it would go belly up this quick. The other day while detecting all was well until I turned it off and half hour later it wouldn't turn back on. Are the batteries for the controller the same as for the headphones and pinpointer? And where would I get one? Thanks for any suggestions!

Batteries are warrantied for 2 years I think. Get XP to do the replacement. You don’t want to void your 5 year warranty on the remote control or accidentally mess up the waterproofing.

I believe battery in remote is same as the coil. However I have recently took possession of a replacement coil battery from big boys hobbies. That particular battery is glue in a little fixture there fits the coil. I am not 100 percent sure one can get the glued fixture off of one of those without damaging battery. Call Bart at big boys hobbies and inquire about a Deus 2 remote battery. My recommendation. I will be interested what he comes up with.
To install battery- hmmm.
There is some risk.
I know how to take remote apart. I have done.
Get your users manual out and look. There is some info.
I may show via video how to do.
It is do at your own risk. If you plan on submerging unit. Recommend s tad of the silicon grease for the end cap seals.
I believe you only remove bottom cap. Plus speaker.
Give me little time. See what I can do.

Do you get charging indication when you hook your remote up to charger? If not. Might be more than battery that is wrong. Hmm

Below is link to video (I have done in last few minutes) showing how to dissemble Xp Deus 2 remote control for battery change. This is a do at your OWN risk. The video is not academy award winning quality. Yet I do think it gives some good info. Hope this helps.

Disclaimer: I am not a Deus 2 component certified technician.

Tnsharpshooter, thanks for the vid! Certainly not rocket science to change the battery. The battery is past warranty and is more than two years old. The manual shows that the controller and pinpointed take the same battery (part #DO88M-WTUBE) p.45 of the owners manual. Battery is supposed to be 700 mAh controller and coil the same p. 43. There are several sellers on eBay that seem to have these but they all look like the same battery and say they fit the Ml-4 & 6 pinpointers but not specifically the controller specifically but as said the manual shows the pinpointer and controller batteries are the same so by rghts it should work.

You are welcome.

Going back through the owners manual the Deus 2 controller and pinpointer have the same part number for the battery but they're not the same. Pinpointers take a 630 mAh battery and the controller again is 700 mAh. Odd they would have the same part #.

The mAh may not matter that much? The Deus 1 takes the 630 mAh battery same as the pinpointer. Makes sense the 2 would need a little more. I ordered a new battery off Amazon for about $18. If I sent in to a repair facility not under warranty I'm sure I'd be looking at close to $100 with shipping.

The Deus 1 manual shows coil with 700 mah battery. Also notice Deus 1 WS4 uses bigger amperage rated battery than Deus 2 Ws6. Quite a bit less for ws6 actually.
Deus 2 remote is not hard on battery for current draw. Even with external speaker used. Bone conductive headphones will use some extra current.
