Where is Garrett right now?

Here is the biggest issue I see with any company coming out with a new SMF is (Mine Labs Sue Happy Butts) look at the Rutus Versa and the Quest V80 and V60 the only reason neither of those are being sold in the U.S is because of Mine Labs sue happy nature.

Maybe Garrett does not want to deal with that bull crap, cant say as I really blame them at all

I would love to have an Axiom but I'm not a millionaire.
Garrett needs to make a multifreq At pro that's lightweight (ergonomic) and LOW PRICE!
Whatever Garrett comes up with for a worthy simultaneous multi frequency successor to the AT Pro will have to cost more than an APEX and will probably cost more than an AT Max.

I own an Axiom and my main income source is my monthly Social Security check along with two part time jobs. Don’t need to be a millionaire to own one.

I spent $850 for my Equinox, That's as high as I will spend. Yes I am king of the cheapos!

Seems like this exact subject comes up every few months. Garrett seems to do pretty good in the markets they choose to be in.
For every elite hobbyist looking for the latest cutting edge machine at any cost there must be dozens and dozens very happy with a good machine at a lower cost point. with proven reliability and above average customer service.
Fact is they are still selling the AT and ACE line every day.

Average hobbyist of any kind are rarely well represented by online forums. Most folks actually posting on forums for any length of time are generally of the more "obsessed" type. (I mean no disrespect at all, they do much to drive the hobby)

I too hope Garrett stays in the game, I really like their product. But I don't worry too much, I think they have a better handle on things then we know.

I hope they come out with a multifreqency AT series. I remember way back when the at series had just come out. I think it would be the kick it needs to get it going again.

The other day I commented on one of their YouTube videos. I asked when is the garrett AT multi frequency coming out. They responded and suggested to keep an eye out this year on their social media for a new release detector.

Dec 31st 2024 : " Do to unforseen circumstances beyond our control , we regret to inform you that our projected new release will be delayed. Deposits will be refunded at POS. Our new release date will be April 1st 2025."

My guess is whether Garrett releases a new detector or not this year it really won't matter. The tech has topped out. I don't foresee any breakthrough detectors anytime soon. CTX,, Equinox, D2, Legend, Manticore not a lot of difference between them. Each probably has an environment it works best in. I seriously doubt no matter who makes it your not going to see a new VLF detector significantly better than the ones I listed.

Kurt from the Hoover Boys is swinging a Legend. Had been swinging an Equinox 800 for awhile. I doubt he is going to use a detector he doesn't think is top notch. I'm sure he probably got it for free, and maybe he has some kind of deal. You know him swinging a Legend will help with Legend sales.

My honest opinions is that Garrett is going to release a new machine and "WOW" every one. Let the current popular competitive models run out of steam, same with the other releases costing less, with less features from the same basic design line. Steve in charge of marketing ar Garrett, has written books on relic hunting, is a very deticated metal detector user and I question if he would even continue his great work at Garrett should they get out of metal detecting.Timing is very important with a new release. However, whatever Garrett releases, there will always be the haters group out there. One only has to look at their past history with multiple metal detectors produced to get a grip on where they are headed.

I completely agree.

A few days ago on a different forum, I said pretty much the same thing. More specifically, I said that unless the new Garrett release has some remarkable new technology (which I seriously doubt), then it will be no better than the current tech, because that tech has been topped out.

Hey Longbow...

When the new Garrett detector is released, let's meet back in this thread to say, "I told you so" :D

I would purchase whatever Garrett comes out with as far as SMF just to show my support of an American made product for a change, although I have done that with my acquisition of The Axiom and a 24K

Personally I do not believe we will see any huge advancements in the VLF technology any time soon or if ever.

My hopes are if and when Garrett comes out with a SMF they use the housing from the Axiom and the Shaft system from the Axiom and make it water proof (which for me I do not personally need) heavy rain proof would be good enough for me, then put a good SMF in that Axiom form, even if it is equal to the performance of the Legend, and Nox Line I would purchase one, it needs to be better than the Apex though, I love the feel of the Axiom it is probably the most ergonomically comfortable feeling detector I have ever swung, again if Garrett can come out with a SMF equal to a Legend, or the Nox lineup in performance and in the Axioms control pod and shafts, but it has to be better than the Apex (Which I have been thinking about purchasing a Apex) just to give one a try,

the AT Pro I never did get along with, and most likely that was my fault because I probably never gave it a chance, I still have my ATP which I purchased in 2009, I donated to Terry Solomon 2 years ago and he has never had anyone pick it up for his veterans cause, so it is just sitting here, I have even offered to hand deliver it to a Veteran but Terry keeps telling me to just hold onto it which I have.

The only way I would not purchase a new SMF that Garrett comes out with is if it does not comes out in the AT Pros form, for me that was the worst feeling detector I have ever swung and one of the reasons I never got along with the ATP.

That's assuming it will even be built in America. It just as well may be, that with the global competition, Garrett realizes that they can't compete in price unless they move production outside of America.

Granted, in my post from a few days ago, I also mentioned that if Garrett's new detector is made in America, then many American hunters would buy it, just because it's American made.

I think there are still a lot of new tech features yet to be exploited. A.I. being the next. A detector that can sense the environment and make the best adjustments for the best performance with the push of a pad. Many experienced detectorists won't see much value, thinking they can outsmart any computer, but for all the new detectorists, what a great selling point. That and ergonomics. Deus still has no competition in that area in my opinion.

We can always hope Garrett pushes the limits on imaging tech for metal detecting. They have the best jump I think The GTI series was all about sizing which is going to be the first big key in useful imaging tech.

I agree it would be a great selling point, but I disagree it's going to find more treasure and less trash. Reason being, AI is only as good as the source information, and the source information is too crude and random, for AI to introduce any value.

I hope I'm wrong about that, but I really don't think I am.
