What does everyone do for a living?

I volunteer teaching school kids at the George Rogers Clark (famous Rev War officer and hero) homesite in Clarksville, Indiana. GRC's Brother, William Clark, was the "Clark" of the Lewis and Clark Expedition and we hold a reenactment at the homesite twice a year. That is early 1800s (1803 and 1806). From there almost everything clothing and weapon wise is the same as that for War of 1812. There are two really big events here in Indiana, including the biggest in this part of the world, the Battle of Mississinewa in Marion, Indiana. It is HUGE and at one time had over 10,000 reenactors ! It's a really fun and interesting hobby. I will be posting some pictures in my gallery today of some of my reenacting ventures. Thanks for asking! Take care and HH!

Half, I think thot for the sake of authenticity, all the reenactors should carry coins from that era, and then we could have a ball searching the fields after the battle.

Seriously, I graduated from Purdue (in Lafayette), and the Battle of Tippecanoe (I think Clark was in that one too), a War of 1812 battle fought near Lafayette, is celebrated annually.

My mother grew up in Clarks Hill, Indiana, which is near Lafayette but was named for Daniel Clark, an early pioneer. Wonder if he was the father of William and George Rogers?

The next one will probably be in June and there is always one at the end of October or beginning of November. I will post when I know for sure. Take care!

LOL, that's pretty funny Dan. Some of the items that I sell are replica coins (Spanish Reales) cast from pewter. I bet someone would freak out finding all of the stuff that is lost on "modern" battlefields. I know that I have lost several pewter and brass flat buttons and musket balls that have fallen out of my pouch. That would be an interesting experiment taking MD'ers out there and discerning wether or not the items found are actually old.

A friend of mine in Ft. Wayne (he is a native american reenactor) was helping with a dig at the original fort site. They found several silver nose rings (popular trade items to the indians) around the battle site. When they showed him these nose rings he said "thanks, I knew I had lost these out here" and put them in his pocket. The archaeologists tried to tell him that these were the real things. He went to his car and brought one back and said "no they arent, I made them". The archaeologists were so baffled that they had been fooled by modern reenactor gear!

Hey RH,

Have you ever tried cleaning some finds in that industrial strength ultrasonic machine? ;)

 not sure that would work...it works more on sonar than ultra sonics{confuses me as to why its called an ultrasonic machine:roll::lol:} its more like a depth/fish finder..it "xrays" cylinders and looks for cracks/pits and corrosion on the surface and within the cylinders. we do have an industrial shot blaster that would work great for cleaning finds..its just powerful enough to remove paint without taking off any of the metal.

well

I'm a Sr. Fabricator working for the largest commercial airfleet in the world. I maintain and repair non-powered ground support equipment. I also have my own upholstery business. I did commercial and automotive upholstery for 13 years before I came to work here and I still do that as much as I can. On top of that, I work with my wife helping her with her online retail business. :D

I am a robotics and controls engineer (fancy name for robot programmer). Currently working for a company that builds glass cutting, grinding, and handling equipment. Did 12 years as a paint engineer/robot programmer, 2 years as a welding robot engineer. Right now I am traveling 75% of the time, so i have never even tried my detector! But, at least I have a job!!!!
