Piece with a small nail attached

Got out today for a little and found some clad and a heavy brass door handle, however wasn't sure what this piece was. It's lightweight with a brass color about 1 to 1 1/2 inches length bigger at one end than the other. What's weird is the small nail that was still in it, like it was fitted on something than just one nail to hold it. Thought maybe a collar for a walking cane, but not sure. Not sure if it's old or not.

Yes that would be my guess as well. It's missing the rubber foot. But I would say you are right on. Cool find.

Yeah that thought did pop in my head as well. So very good possibility, because it seemed kinda wide for a cane.
