Meteorites and Gold Nuggets

I am researching which detector to buy.
What I will be using it for is searching for meteorites and gold nuggets here in the Mohave desert.

I like the Garrett GTP 1350 and am considering buying it.

What do you people think and what are you using?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Pauly. i wouldn't reccomend the 1350 for that purpose. You are really looking at a gold hunting detector. Not that the 1350 will not find meteorites , but it isn't a great nugget hunter. If this however is your price range , for about 40 bucks more you can get a Tesoro Lobo Supertrac. This will find both the meterorites and the nuggets.Let me know if there is anything else I can do fro you.

I use a Minelab GP Extreme. Will find both and not bothered much by hot rocks.

Welcome to the forum Pauly. If you have M D questions this is the place to find the answers. I just recently started researching meteorites and find them fascinating. My hunting buddy and are are stoked about finding some. Glad you are here and happy hunting.

Most machines wont be EFFECTIVE nugget hunters like Tony said. FRMACH has the ticket, but most of us cant afford that machine. I have no doubt Tony can fix you up. Take a look at the Euricka by ML as well... it was designed from the 18000 i believe and was a nugget machine. Once you have a machine.... then you best find some of the local hunters to show you what you are suppost to look for. You may have to pay the big money to find these expensive targets. Otherwise unless you just like taking a detector for a walk they wont find you much of what you are looking for.
