Diggers tv show tonight on NatGeo

I don't know if Garrett is a sponsor of the show, but you might let Garrett know what you think of the show. They use Garrett products (A/T pro and Pro-pointer)

If Garrett isn't a sponsor then the only thing the goofballs on the show would have to do is black out the name/logo on their gear.

I would hope Garrett isn't a sponsor for that show!

But like they say, any publicity is good publicity I suppose!

I will make an observation comparing another hobby of mine and the movies made about it,,,billiards. There was really only one good billiard movie, the rest were all glamoured up with redidulious buzz words like nobody in the PHs actually use, along with the unglorified actions in playing, totally stupid shot selections and the downside of cheating and hustling. The thing is...it all sells when it comes to TV and movies. Sorry to say, but this show about MDing really only has a chance of entertainment with this kind of hoopla. Trust me, the billiard sites have hammered at their disappointments for much of the same things as we have here today. Both sports have lost favor simply because of badly presented media designed for the almighty buck. martin

Been detecting for almost a year now, my take on the show, hated it! But the good part is, I thought it was so bad, no one could sit through 30 minutes of that !!!! and want to try it. I hope the show fails and the hobby stays of peoples radar. My two cents........

That makes sense then. Hope it doesn't go through for the Florida hunters...

I'm still trying to figure this bill out. It appears that most of what's in the bill is already law. I don't speak legaleze and that is one thing I hate about laws, no one can understand them and they are always open to interpretation.

I personally don't think that this show will result in the end of detecting as we know it. Sure it puts all of us a little closer to the spotlight, but any adverse effects will only be short lived. People as a whole have a very short attention span, and once this series dies, people will go on with their lives and forget about it. As for thousands of new hobbyists entering into the hobby because of this, those people will get frustrated with it, and give it up. As for shutting down access in parks and public areas, I know that where I live all the city parks welcome detectorist thanks to a few clubs that teach proper etiquette and volunteer with law enforcement. The good deeds of a few I believe will outweigh the idiots out there. I know that when I see a new person in the field, I take the time to educate.

And that is what all of our mission should be...to educate others on the proper etiquette of the hobby of metal detecting.

W T F !!!!!!?

I was so excited to come home from work and watch this show!
The first 15 mins of it I was EXTREMLY Disappointed

Nothing about asking permission.

Nothing about filling in you holes and WHY you should fill them in.

Nothing about why it's generally a good idea to cut as small of a hole as possible.

I also think showing the dollar amount of the items dug ( Donated to a museum or not) Was a bad Idea.

The two guys are about as dumb as you can get.
( To each their own) But Come on!
I think this show is going to give the hobby a bad wrap.

I can see it now next time I’m out. :rifle: Great look at that guy here to dig big holes all over the park.

Just my two cents,

Jerry in San Diego
