Deus 2 or Legend

THANK YOU. The 'torque' was a big reason I sold my 800 (plus lack of coil choices (then), leaks and other things). I figured the legend would have the same balance, glad to hear it's not!

A buddy (a hard core detectorest that has/had many of the best ones made) has the 600 and now has a legend. He said it's a little coil heavy. He really likes the 600 but said the legend is definitely a better detector. I planned on getting one just for beach work, it is the least expensive smf detector and the nox is a known leaker. I now believe based on his opinion, that I value, it will work great on land and yours that it balances well. Now just to find the best price. He got his for $600.

Everyone has the opportunity to counter balance their shafts to their liking.

Selling a detector because you did not take the proper steps for you, is not a reason to sell.

I like the Legend audio better than the Equinox which is saying a lot since I really like the Equinox audio.

jmaclen,
How does the full tones audio on the Legend stack up against something like an Etrac or CTX? I've always liked using 50 tones on FBS detectors but for whatever reason it just sounds like a jumbled mess to me on the Equinox. I'm curious if full tones on the the Legend is any easier to decipher than the Nox?

Thanks for the questions. I was in Carrollton GA for 3 weeks helping to take care of my mother. Now I’m in Montana seeing my newborn grandson. So I haven’t had a chance to use the Legend in full tones yet just 6 tones compared to Equinox 5 tones. Hopefully soon.

A big congratulations on the new Grandson!

Congrats on the newborn grandson and future hunting buddy!

Well I nearly changed my mind completely for an Etrac that was for sale near me but held out and spent all my savings on a Deus 2 / 11” Not had chance yet to try it but sorting carry bags and trowel out then figuring how I’m going to carry it all. The only thing I will change is the headphones as I’m not keen on over the ear strap, no good if your wearing sunglasses. Wish me luck !! :digginahole:

The backpack is awesome

I’d thought about that, I could ride my old motorbike down to the coast as it’s free parking. Nearly all the car parks you’ve got to pay by the hour now here in the UK.

Not been detecting for a while and all I’ve got so far is a spade and a pin pointer, now waiting for stocks of machines getting into the stores. I need to search beaches and old pastures, woods, ploughed fields so which one would you go for ? I just missed the re stock of Legends because I couldn’t make my mind up. I,ve watched loads of videos but I need help :?:

Used 800 Equinox. You will be hunting places that require a 15" coil.

I have no worries rushing out buying the latest and greatest from companies who have a solid reputation for not only their products but continued support and their technical advancements.

i.e. Big difference on how one popular US manufacturer launched their new product & the way they ignored their customers who DID rush out and buy the latest release.

Fortunately for us all, that way of dealing with loyal customers has been shut down & closed for good. Personally I cant see a problem with purchasing anything from XP or Nokta-Makro. Both have a great reputation. Both offer easy International Support.

As for those who continually go on about "HYPE" - where is this "HYPE"?
The only time I hear any "HYPE", is when a US manufacturer is about to release a detector. "HYPE" usually in these instances leads to disappointment, so I can understand the hesitancy from US purchasers to buy anything 'straight out the gate'.

Still looking forward to something coming out of the US.
I would certainly give one of those at least 6 months after the release if history is anything to go by -

If money is not an option - Deus II, otherwise you cant go wrong with a Nokta-Makro.

Good luck -

Replied then saw you already made a choice. For some reason I can’t delete the post. Ignore this ;)

2 other things to consider in addition to what others have said: 1) the deus is slightly more of a pain to charge because you have to charge the coil too. 2) the deus seems like it has a steeper learning curve and seems like it’s meant to be fiddled with more by the end user, so if you like to fiddle it’s probably great. The Legend can certainly be fiddled with but seems to be more of a turn-on-and-go machine.

If money isn’t a factor I personally would go with a deus as it’s lighter seems to be a bit more capable of a machine. If money is a factor than 100% go for the Legend.

Money wasn't a factor for me,and I still went with the Legend . To each they're own,but the legend and the nox are definitely geared more towards parks and yards, which I hunt. If I were a relic hunter ( fields) if use nothing but a Deus..just my opinion

Thanks chaps for the advise, went with Deus so far so good but the question now is to update or not to update my control box.

I would learn your machine to almost 100% before any updates. None of them seem critical to operations at this point. So easy to decide if an update is worth it once you know your machine.

Deus updates have issues right now............

Yeah, lesson learned, was chasing that MI-6 integration, I know better than to be an early adopter of any software update, be that detectors, phones, camera firmware, etc.

I can't remember who it was here that said give the new detectors 6 months to a year for the manufacturers to work the bugs out......I am in that camp. Seems like it is happening more and more with these updatable machines. I understand people wanting the new machines but having trouble like that with a new detector is a bummer. Especially as much as they cost. Good luck. I hope they get it all lined out for you guys

Sad fact is, the consumer has been the beta tester for close to 20 years now in all areas of computers/electronics. The only way firmware/software will ever improve in most products sold today is with feedback from the purchasing public, because companies just don't invest in proper beta testing before release anymore.

Yep. It's almost like if the user will live with it why should we invest to fix it. or better yet if enough won't complain about it.
