Deus 2 on the beach?

I was told to do research instead of spouting off….. so I did. TENN apparently called and asked for prices for repairs up at the Deus repair site in MD. I have not called them but if I opt to buy of course I will. I’d like to know for sure how repairs will go. Not that I ever need repairs lol.

Good morning Dew.

Although I did say major repairs for XP units are sent back to France there is another factor now with the Deus 2 and that is 'pressure testing' which I'm would think would need specialised equipment over in France?

Video on salt water beach comparing Deus 2 , Equinox 800 and Excalibur on gold ring.

Enjoy.

I watched the beginning... I will wait for beach hunters to take it out as I have said... Excalibur is deeper than the Nox.. that is a given...

I'm waiting for Gary Storm and Carter to do their testing... it doesn't mean I'm going to run out and buy the latest detector... I have been very successful beach hunting over the years will continue to be with my current detectors... good research, knowing my detectors and knowing where to hunt gives me my edge...

Honestly…. The better machines each has their strength AND weaknesses. In the water all are created equal real fast. I mean if you get 10” out there or 12 or now 14…. You aren’t going to miss a lot of recent drop. Then their is the 10% of the hunters get 90% of the gold no matter the machine they use. So the rest just keep hoping they come out with better machines that out of the box helps um catch up.

I get it Dew... people need to learn not to cherry pick at a beach... dig terrible signals... I was telling a couple guys.. a gold target I recently found started off in the iron range with negative numbers... I think being a pulse hunter first when I started beach hunting taught me a lot...

I have followed cherry pickers and clean up all the good stuff they are hearing but choose to ignore because it wasn't a good signal... there will always be cherry pickers in this hobby... I'll do nothing to stop them

I disagree I had 4 SOV XS and 3 EXCALS over the years and never got the depth I got with the NOX.
Also I was not going to hunt in PP mode on the Excals that nuts to me just use a PI if your going to do that.

Same as my experience, my NOX is deeper on gold than my Excal II. On small gold rings, earrings and chains, it is not even comparable.

Its ok... I know its that way with me... I have the OBN Excal with the skullies and I know its a fact...

I only hunt in PP mode... I can't hunt with a PI where I hunt... I do not hunt for fresh drops I hunt for old stuff...

I'm going to say both the Deus ll and the NOx are better machines then the excalibur, and as deep if not deeper. ;)

Will the Deus ll change your average hunter into a great gold hunter?... time will tell. My guess is it won't make much of a difference since beach detecting is hunter dependent. Like Dew said "Then their is the 10% of the hunters who get 90% of the gold no matter the machine they use"

So my challenge for the next 11 months.. Deus ll hunters show me your end of year...... 2022 gold..show me it's the machine!

In fact, If I am still on this earth I will bring this post up or start a New one..

Your old buddy calabash put out a video this morning and talked mainly about you and your detector and said he proved how the Deus 2 is better. Also asked someone to post his video on the forum. Deus 2 is starting to get my attention but until it is in more users hands it's on hold.

Words on a screen about talking about me... I'm not putting down the Deus but I want a dedicated beach hunter to test it and then hunt in the wild with it... hunting with it is a whole different ballgame than doing depth tests...

My post was about what I know concerning the Nox and the Excal I would not say that unless I knew it to be true... Someday I may try a Deus 2 my buddy had a Deus and its a very good machine I took him to a couple of my old hunted to death dirt spots and he pulled some nice old coins with it...

I agree about waiting until proven in type of hunting we do dirt or beach. Of course the equinox wasn't made to do the type of hunting i mainly do but it sure has treated me good hitting targets close to 4ft . His depth tests showing the deus 2 hitting a nickel at 16 inches and the 800 not touching it makes me wonder if I can set it to go deeper than the 800 on my type of detecting.

I just want to see the Deus 2 hunted with in the wild... I don't need to see depth tests they mean little to me... if I want depth I will hunt with a pulse but my current detectors including the NOX which gets me where I need to be... the NOX I use in the rocks... the Excal is my water machine...

One of my friends when he found out I had a NOX asked me when I was going to start hunting in tot lots  he said he doesn't know if we can be friends anymore because I bought the Nox.. he cracks me up...

The numbers of gold rings found means very little.

Now if we record depths and time spent detecting beaches then numbers found then we are talking.

It is obvious to me Deus 2 with 11” coil deeper than excal on gold rings in wet salt sand. Plus one does have a meter on Deus to make dig or no dig decisions.

Looks like Deus 2 will be more efficient detector. Deeper and more efficient. Both of these sure could mean more gold rings with less time detecting. And let’s throw in better separation to boot.

Yeah there are some gold rings that are indeed being masked out there in the sand by ferrous materials.

Deus 2 looks like to me a beach hunters DREAM VLF detector for gold.

How much does a new excal cost?
And how much did excals cost 7 years ago?

Here’s sponsors listing for excal and price.
https://bigboyshobbies.net/minelab-excalibur-ii-1000-metal-detector
Deus 2 can be used on land too for coin hunting and relic hunting and jewelry hunting. And yes even maybe prospecting for gold.
So Deus 2 is either priced too cheap or excal is priced too high. Imo.

More from the Calabash Digger,,, Looks like you may be able to run this machine fairly hot which might give an advantage on some beaches.

Calabash says something interesting at the 4 minute mark in this video.
He says he started out with a Beta version of the Deus 2 but now has an updated Version 5. That tells us the Deus 2 is still going through some changes albeit probably just some software tweeks. At the 2 min 20 sec mark, he uses the phrase "somebody who would know" told me.......
Does that mean a XP engineer or another Beta Version 5 tester?
Why so much mystery?

There is no mystery. Then detector software is being updated. And beta version updates are over. Now the detector is shipped out to dealers on the way to customers. I talk to Calabash almost daily.
He’s a straight shooter.

I will go out on a limb here and say a few things about Deus 2.
All these just my thoughts/hunches.

Deus 2 likely has been exposed to the most testing to date prior to release than any other VLF detector model released to date.

Deus 2 likely will receive the most software updates in its first 2 years after being released than any other prior released VLF detector that has software update capabilty.

We might even see the owner of Xp eventually talk about the journey he and his company had with Deus 2 creation. Folks may be surprised too.

Oh yeah the serious beach hunters dismissed Xp long time ago since they made wireless detectors and no multi freq units. Up jumped the devil named Deus 2. And Xp even went 2 steps farther than any other manufacturer has done previously. Stuck a 5 year warranty on their model and made some bone conductive headphones for their model. Xp is being serious with their equipment. Make no mistake. The owner is a serious detectorist too in case you don't Know.
I’ll say Deus 2 is contender for detector of the year 2022.

I just heard skids marks, loud skid marks.
This from the beach hunters that were thinking of dropping cash for ex cal, or Equinox, or Tarsacci mdt 8000.

Maybe I worded that wrong, I'll make sure to ask the previous years totals .. Say, was there a improvement......... Excal in 2021, compared to the Deus ll in 2022? Most who hunt will do the same amount of time as the previous year. Unless they retire.. You think that would fill the end of year question? I want it to be a fair question to ask.

As far as keeping records of depth and time detected, that would be to much for some.

To a beach hunter that is what its all about... we aren't in this end of the hobby to find coins... if I wanted coins I would dirt hunt more...

I go to the beach hunting for gold everything else is just part of the process...
