Deus 2 on the beach?

Craig…. I know at least 3 detector designers that would like a cheap bridge . Like I said I’m from MO when it comes to any detector hitting a chain 3 times the distance that a Nox does. So believe what ya will. I’ll wait for all the flash to blow over and see what it does. It will live up to the hype or it will at least be as good…. Deus makes a good detector no doubt.

You guys enjoy jerkin chain don't ya ?🤣 Here is my experience on my chain jerking skills ( out of the sand). Countless chains of all types over the years with a PI and dig-it-all mentality. Both tinsel gold and 300 gram "rapper ropes". From all depths.
The Nox on the other hand for gold , have only found maybe 5 small chains for 3-8" down in depth. Plenty of other metal chains too. Same dig all mentality. The Deus : have never owned or tried that machine.

Heres a little something from Andy Sabisch whos a dealer for the Deus II. There is a video out showing the test on one of the Jersey Shore FB pages. It was a wet sand test looked near the high tide line because there was no water in the hole. Impressive on the nickel.... thou i dont know what the digital reading was. I know at about 11" it will change to iron on a Nox with a bit of water in the hole.

I have had a number of people ask for feedback on how the Deus II handled wet saltwater beaches since one area where the original Deus was challenged – as are all single frequency VLF detectors – was on saltwater beaches especially those containing black sand. I don’t want to turn this post into a “I can get my VLF detector to work by doing XXXX or YYYY” discussion as yes, I have used the original Deus on salt water beaches with a moderate degree of success but a Pulse Induction (PI) or Multi-Frequency (MF) detector will always perform with greater stability and detection depth. Hoping to see this be the case with the FMF circuitry of the Deus II, I took the it to a stretch of the Florida coast known as the Treasure Coast. It has black sand (although less than in some areas) and along with the salt water would provide a test area for the Deus II.
My wife and I headed to the beach at low tide to have a section of wet sand to use as a test area. We used test targets buried at known depths in the wet sand / black sand area of the beach. The waves were still sweeping over the area resulting in varying levels of salt water content in the test area. We had US coins with a string tied to them and a cork marker on the other end so we would not lose the location when waves swept over the area they were buried in.
The targets included a US dime at 10 inches (high conductor), a US nickel (low conductor) at 14 inches and a US quarter (high conductor) at 14 inches. We videotaped the test on the following day with the US nickel at 12 inches.
• Settings were left at factory preset in both the BEACH SENS and BEACH P modes.
• Sensitivity was at “95” which until you went into the area where the waves swept over the coil allowed the machine to run very quiet. With the waves, dropping to “92” addressed the chirping which for this area of a saltwater beach was very impressive.
Test Results:
• US Dime: The Deus II detected the coin with a consistent audio response and a TID value. It was detectable even with the coil lifted off the sand a few inches.
• US Quarter: The Deus II detected the coin with a consistent audio response and a TID value. It was detectable even with the coil lifted off the sand a few inches.
• US Nickel: The Deus II detected the coin with a consistent audio response and a TID value. It was detectable even with the coil lifted off the sand a few inches.
The following video was taken on Day #2
Summary:
The XP Deus II was very well-balanced for beach hunting which is a different style of hunting than most land is hunting with both the 9” and the 11” coils.
The XP Deus II was quiet in the wet sand area which again is a challenge for single frequency VLF detectors including the Deus I. I was not able to go into the water as the waves were pretty rough at the beach we were testing the detector at on both days and did not want to have to tell XP that I lost the Deus II to the sea gods.
Bottle caps – The type of steel bottle cap found on beer bottles registered as a good target (TID and tone) on the Deus II. Increasing the BOTTLE CAPS function to “3” made them easy to identify as you swept over it and increasing it to “5” eliminated them while still detecting the range of coins we had as test targets.
The XP Deus II was able to detect targets at impressive depths in the wet sand region of the beach which is typically ruled by PI’s or a select group of MF machines. With XP bringing an effective MF circuit to the game with the Deus II, a new player has emerged to challenge the status quo. Based on the performance I noted in the testing performed on the beach and its fully-waterproof design, my choice of what goes on a trip to the ocean has changed.

It appears from all the videos this is an impressive beach machine wet and dry sand. Im waiting on someone to test that antenna in the water chest deep and try and get a measurement (which is very hard to do) on a piece of gold from wet sand to knee deep even. Id like to have some idea how much depth is lost.

Fully agree Dew with what you said above..salt water over the coil can make a world of difference..., And what I would like to see is .. these guys are so worried about getting a ID number on targets. Why? Have they not learned that gold and good targets POSSIBLIY could be deeper then a machine can ID............ I want to know the edge, the fringe, the end of the detecting field response targets. The targets that will not ID correct and the audio is IFF ... if it is a target.

I agree it’s those weak signals that is being missed. Some machines will continue to tell you there’s something there…. It just can’t say what because of the amount of material it’s processing. Some at that point just call it iron …. Something the Nox will do in wet sand. If you use disc … that target is gone. If you are recent drop hunting that’s ok. None of us routinely hunt avoiding coins. I hunt in AM … my goal is FIND A TARGET…. Then if it’s really and bouncy I’ll take a bit off for a better ID. I tell ya Joe the MDT seems to give me enough info to tell if it iron. But I dig a lot anyway. If this machine can ID to depth and run that smooth then we are getting there.

Im not sure how to get Andy’s video on here…. But it’s posted to his FB page.

I know what your saying on the Nox and it's signals at depth. I prefer AM. But I'm most curious about that coil wire as I hunt in and out of the water often. Not wanting to go with corded headphones.

I was just watching Gary going over the various screens…. Wow a button pushers dream. It’s going to take some learning….. or people are going to set it and leave it… which isn’t the best either. KISS seems out the window. For those going from say coin hunting up North and wants to hit a vacation beach or vis versa they are going to need the locals settings.

KISS is known by the name: Vanquish.

The real question is, do I buy one as a backup machine or get another excalibur. It's not a huge difference in price.
Peak season is here for me, and knowing my luck my machine will die.

I was watching some British guys yesterday and in the dirt the Nox and Deus2 were very similar they both saw the same targets... I didn't see a big difference in capabilities...

What I do remember is when the Nox HYPE first hit, there was a guy in a video swiping a few rings past the coil about 15 plus inches away and it was hitting them good. That had me "Concerned", but time did that in after taking Nox hunters out and putting them on deep targets.

I'm gonna be like Dew and wait for things to shake out... everyone's beaches are different just because Joe Blow gets incredible depth at one beach doesn't mean I will see same results here...

Don't forget

A few things , any ID screen is subject to leak , Equinox, CTX, and Deus , when charging the Deus , not the Deus 2 , you notice a led light on the coil when charging , if its the same , another leak might happen- inside the coil , however the machine needs to prove its worthy in the wet , shallow , and dry , personally don't think I could handle a louder- twice as aggressive tone- wise machine at the beach , ok on land , hope it's better on EMI , than the NOX around condos , the last thing , charging everything , coil, head, phones , is a pain , think about a great hunt , hitting gold, silver, than running out of juice 30 blocks away from your vehicle on one of the three items , not good , but won't knock down the Deus 2, till I see it tested OVER time , what I think, The tones should have been re- done , more mild , less charging parts, antenna sticking out  , however I like the Idea that the French are now all in on salt water hunting , they will come out with more , we now need more manufacturer's making water machines , now since Whites, Tesoro , are out of business , will be watching how it does , but as the hype keeps coming , like the AQ dream machine  that never made it out , Ill sit back , and watch people spend & test , I won't be all in on this one , happy hunting , Earl

ALL things this far have become equal once that coil is in the salt water. You can show me smoke and mirrors out if the water …. But in the water we we see how she goes. I want to be there when someone pulls a tiny chain and can get it 8” or better knee deep.

Maybe there's 100's of guys out there already with the deus 2, hoovering up all the gold chains and staying silent about it?

What is hoovering up those chains are your great whites

The early Nox guys used to post how many chains they could hear in tests but a test is hunting in controlled conditions and its not real life...

I can remember someone posting a video here of them hunting with the Nox detectors and bragging they were recovering targets down to 24 inches... that was BS... they were missing targets scooping and the suction was driving the targets deeper...

I think they got their digging skills from those guys who posted videos about a pulse detector both video's were painful to watch for me...

hehe I was just hoping to get a bit of FOMO going.

I'd be happy if it's a better detector, still on the fence though
