Even though I had a couple of good finds on the previous 2 hunts with an iPhone 13 and an Apple Watch Ultra, it’s not my main goal when I head out. Both the phone and the watch powered up nicely. Neither had return messages so they will be going up for sale and should bring in some decent :gettinmoney:.

Today, I headed out just over 2 ours before the 1pm low tide. My 1st good find just after 30 minutes was the fresh silver marked “950”. A very pretty ring I think. After about an hour into the hunt, I ran into a fellow pirate (PirateofallSeas), that is back from Europe on vacation and is here to plunder MY gold! We had a nice chat before we both continued our hunts. At the 2-hour mark into the hunt, I get a low tone. When I looked in the scoop, I see a beautiful gold ring! However when I plucked it out, I was immediately suspect as it looked too perfect and was rather heavy. :hmmm:I didn’t see any markings and my thought was “tungsten carbide”. (I would confirm that about a half hour later, when I took it out, and was able to discern the “Tungsten Carbide” inscription). The next target after that ring about 2-3 minutes later was a very nice mid-tone on NuBlu. When I look in the scoop I saw :dingding:**. There was no doubt on that one as I could see a marking on the inside and the weight and color were good. I would also take it out a bit later and notice that it was a class ring with a “91” on the side panel. Only my 3rd class ring ever.

When I got to the car, I saw with my loupe, “John F. Kennedy University”. There was also a name inscribed on the inside. This university was in California, as it is defunct since 2020. I have tried to find the owner on social media and sent out a few messages. I don’t know if this one is going to be able to make it back to its owner. It is marked 14K and weighs a surprising 7.3 grs. It is very top heavy. Another nice find were the Louis Vuitton sunglasses which I almost destroyed before realizing what I might be retrieving. 4 hours of hunting with few targets but at least I got the one that mattered.

Great hunt. On rare occasions that "950" could also be platinum. Though this ring looks cheap with that stone , the telltale would be the weight. So when I find one with that mark and it is unusually heavy for its size , I pay close attention.

Nice hunt. You probably have some of the best metal detecting beaches in the US down there. Lots of wealthy tourists who lube up with sunscreen and proudly flash their bling and soon lose said bling in the surf.

Well since the ring is from CA, you are welcome to send it to me ! I will make sure it gets to the proper authorities for you. Tsk tsk. :cool3:

 I have messaged at least 12 different individuals with the name on the ring on Facebook. Looked on LinkedIn, searched local Craigslist L&F section to no avail. She would've been 51 years old, and if she was wearing that ring to the beach that tells me it had great sentimental value. Unfortunately, it looks like its going to stay with me.
