Deus 2 might just be the new bomb

Yeah, look at the people who start off with a more budget friendly detector, get hooked and move up.

This thread about Deus 2.
Not about people.
You want to start your own thread asking who is buying Deus 2, feel free.

We could say what you are saying about any model really. Why bother.

I learned early in life- you can only please half the people half the time.

This thread should have Deus 2 info. Folks can read and make their judgements as far as buying. Or even using for that matter.

Seems every time a new good detector materializes we go through this. Ashame really.
Notice btw Deus 2 is being compared to What?
And yeah the EQx naysayers and deflectors were on here too when it debuted and some folks realized how good it was.

Normal behavior I would expect when a new model is released and thread is started.
Is to ask questions and or put info in thread to support thread.

Think about this.
Wonder how it would look if I went into every At Pro, Apex, ORX, Mxt, etc threads’ and posted I won’t buy? Wouldn’t do a soul here any good would it?

Now to go post you are buying said model could be helpful. As other members here could in near future ask your opinion or answer specific questions about the detector model.

👍👍👍. TN, were just posting the pros and cons of this new Deus 2 as we see it,,none of us know anything about it,including you. Calabash is the most bias person I think be ever seen when it comes to what he likes and ,and don’t like ...so excuse some of us if we don’t take his opinion as the gospel.
If it were you TN swinging that machine talking about it in the videos I’d be more inclined to be open minded, but not Calabash.👌

Are you saying Calabash’s tests are biased or his opinions are biased?

Sure I know something about Deus 2. I see what it looks like. Sounds like. Am seeing some of its potential.

Yeah, again you after the person.

Keep comments to the detector please.

There are other users of Deus 2 who have posted vidoes.
Funny thing is their results seem are in line with Calabash’s results.

When you sweep a nail and coin scenario. Detector gives signal. Remove the coin. Detector goes silent. Put coin back in and detector sounds off. You know what this means? About as good a way to show a detector I know of.

It’s work and takes a lot of time doing what Calabash does.
He don’t have to do.
He could take the detector go hunting and say zero or post zero for videos.
He’s not like that though.
He’s not a selfish person.

If I thought a person was rigging videos, I wouldn’t watch period. And if I didn’t watch videos that would mean I would be commenting on the videos either.

What we need more of here—- is intellectual curiosity.

I somewhat agree with this. Especially those of us who are detector nerds and thrive on specs and test videos and love the challenge of pulling one more silver at a pounded iron infested site. Then there are those who just like to detect for pure enjoyment and getting out in the fresh air. They don’t care about specs or depth or getting 100 silver coins in year.

Until I started watching Calabash's videos on the Deus II I was totally happy with my Equinox 800. I'm still happy with the Equinox, but gotta say the Deus II looks like it's got the equinox beat in a lot of areas. Could be all areas. The last few videos Calabash did convinced me to go ahead and pre-order one.
Yep. My thoughts exactly. My deus 2 is on order after seeing his videos. The nox was dominating the competition and deus just out duelled the nox. This is getting exciting!

Calabash was about as big of a fan of equinox as anyone could be. And he showed how much better the deus 2 is. That says a lot to me. All the people here that harped on how us nox fans were just minelab maxis are are eating their words already lol. I know many of us just want to use the best possible tool for the job. At one time that was the at pro. Then minelab stole the show with etrac and ctx. Deus joined the party and made a great case for the deus 1. Then the equinox came along and wore the crown for 3 years. Now the deus 2 might just be the best tool. And I will gladly swing it over my nox if that is the case.

Nokta might get there someday too although the legend fell a bit short. I have no doubt minelab is working on the next big thing to challenge the deus 2 as well. This is all very exciting for everyone here except for the garrett die hards that still can't seem to let go of the at pro or apex dream.

Not quite sure how you can already say "the Legend fell a bit short." I'm hoping the Legend matches or exceeds the performance of these other competitors, especially since Nokta Makro is offering their unit for a much lower price.

This is an XP Deus II topic, and I'll get to that.

Most, or at least many, Avid Detectorists own more than one detector, and they own them for good reason. Most Equinox users seem focused on 'depth-of-detection' and if they hunt the open sites the EQ-800 can do well.

I used to search those types of locations, but due to health limitations and mobility issues, my urban Coin & Jewelry Hunting involves more modern trash and 'depth' is not achievable due to shallow-target masking. Thus, for ME, the mid-priced Garrett Apex makes an ideal choice. It works quite well, and I have used it since its earliest release.

For Tot-Lots and many other applications, my two favorite Tesoro units w/6" Concentric coils work great and better than most 'modern' detectors.

Then for my 'get-serious' Relic Hunting in very dense Iron, I haven't found a detector to out-perform my Nokta FORS CoRe or FORS Relic units with their smaller coils. Or my XP ORX w/5X9.5 HF coil.

And this brings me back to the newest XP release, the Deus II. I was never a fan of the Deus and the ORX gave me the Deus performance for my needs. I do not swim, do not dive, and have little use or need for the Deus II waterproofing. But it goes beyond that.

FOR ME, the Deus II has some features I like and the comfortable weight and balance w/9" DD work well for my physical limitations. It is expensive and as I:yes: said the waterproofing means little to me, but from what I have seen from Gary Blackwell's videos, I figure I will sell off some excess and add the Deus II to my 'regular use' detector outfit for more day-to-day hunting use.

It might not appeal to everyone, but that's fine because we all have that option to pick and use what we like.

I don’t really do any water hunting either, but it’s nice to have a machine that is capable if I decide to. I’ve always loved the light weight and compactness of the Deus. What’s really exciting to me about the Deus 2 is of course the SMF capabilities, but also the new tone options. The square setting and built in EQ are damn cool features that I look forward to trying out. The good build quality and what seems to be a more rugged remote are nice too. The way I see it, if I can get similar (possibly better?) performance to the Nox, in a lighter, more ergonomic package with all the tone options to boot.. that’s a win!

I have no problem owning multiple detectors for different tasks, but the more I can combine into a single machine, the better. Like Ben, I’m not loyal to any manufacturer. What’s the old saying about swinging a turd on a stick if it finds more treasure? That’s me… even though I’d rather not if I don’t have to. Lol

I appreciate Calabash's time and work very much. I am very dedicated to the sport personally but would NEVER do videos. I have helped out any person that has approached me and asked for help.

Pretty clear to me with the videos now being posted from different parts of the world where this machine will fit into the cog. It will be one of the best machines and most versatile.

Really looking forward to a machine with a 5 year warranty! !!!!!!!

A new game changer is released every few years. There are still a great number of people who won't buy new. Look at the cost of used Tesoro detectors because some hunters love them.

I know more detectorist that don't have a Nox than do. They're content. For some like you and me, we'll always keep up with technology and let a detector prove itself. For many however, 1k or 1500 bucks will never be in their price range because of economics or choice, and they'll still enjoy the hobby.

I agree with that too. I still have older detectors I hunt with with just to change up the routine some. Also know a young man that is a great door knocker and he finds way more stuff than I do every year because he is always on some fresh ground, and he uses some not so expensive detectors but they are good ones for sure and he probably gets most of the targets besides the really masked ones and then off to the next yard. For sure you do not have to have the top of the line machines to be really successful and enjoy the hobby with some excellent finds.

I used to have 5-10 detectors at all times. Then a rotation of buying , testing ,selling. I've sold everything and will be only using the deus 2. I feel no need anymore to use the older detectors . But I get why guys do. I think these days new tech just brings too much to the table and replaced most of the older generation models. Just better in every way. There has always been an understanding in manufacturing a detector to make sure you need several to do daily tasks to keep company money flowing. . Well that's changed and now we have detectors that can do it all. So easy to haul your equipment, etc. Good times

Isn't this what the hobby is supposed to be about ? The "obsoleting" of other detectors because a new one is available is just hogwash. It's wonderful there are many choices for people with different levels of income and time to dedicate to the hobby.
