Vaccine

I’d be thankful if you could please explain how this vaccine really works, and possible long-term effects, seeing that it was rushed to market.

Possible long term effect, without vaccination you will have 60 to 70% of the population infected and the medical industry will collapse. You will have mass grave burials like they did last summer in New York. It will make the Spanish flu look like the common cold. (1918) I'm a little skeptical as you are about a hurried vaccine but in my mind we should think of the other guy before ourselves. That is one mindset that Americans have displayed since the revolution. And those who say its all a conspiracy, its all about the $$$$ and with economies crippled there is less profits for the big corporations. So grudgingly I think I will take the vaccine. We need to end this thing before there is nothing left to build on. Mark ps. as I read it, the vaccine gets your dna to trigger antigens to fight and neutralize the virus

It’s entirely possible the mask will become a permanent fixture for many, regardless, as they’re scared out of their wits. I know people that are sleeping with masks. I’ve also seen that masks may be mandated after vaccination, for who knows how long.
Masks are a big business now so the companies that produce them won't want to lose a cash cow. Tests and vaccines are an even bigger one. I'm with you that people will wear the masks long after vaccines are given to those who want it because they're so afraid of it.

"Think about the other guy before ourselves"?

When has "The other guy" thought about anybody but themselves? So why would anybody think about them?

If you want the shot go get the shot but do not try to force or guilt people into a shot of the unknown.

Laying a guilt trip on anyone was not the intention, merely stating my opinion. As far as the other guy, well if you have never known anyone or witnessed someone who thinks of others before themselves, how sad for you. Just my opinion Mark

I thought this was the United States, "together we stand, divided we fall". I feel like this country is more divided than it has ever been. I fear for my children, they will get the brunt of all of this when they get older. Ive never taken the flu vaccine, I will be taking this one regardless of side effects. I live with 2 people in the high risk category, and work in an institution. Been working since it all started too, unfortunately. If I were to come down with covid, I would likely be okay, so it's more about those around me that are vulnerable. If you dont want to take it, that's your choice, but I see more positives than negatives in this case. A vaccine wouldn't be nearly as effective if only 50% of the country gets it IMO...:my2cents:

ALL POLITICIANS should go first.

AMEN! In addition, those who would mandate to get one before returning to work, school, etc.

As for me, I will get one, but probably lounge around the back of the line for awhile, just to see what goes on as far as side effects for a few months.

Yes, I do mask in public; it's the responsible thing to do, whether the Covid thing is real or not .

You’ll get two, required if you opt for proper vaccination, then possibly one every three or four months.

US health secretary says vaccines should be available for all Americans by the second quarter of 2021, if all goes right.

I will sit back a few years and see what comes of it and if there are any long term side effects. If I get it, so be it, know over a dozen people who have had it now and worst was someone was in bed a few days like with the flu, other just lost taste and smell for a few days. I know it effects everyone differently but I try to base my decisions on what my eyes tell me not what I hear on the news that differs from every station and every so called expert.

Same here, for those that I know that have caught the bug, a minor inconvenience. My elderly mother in law with multiple health issues came through with a cough for a few days and that was about it. I won’t be rushing out for the jab and if I’m not allowed to buy, sell or travel so be it.

I do believe everyone has the right to decide what is best for themselves. I am personally not high risk but my wife is immunocompromised so we will be getting it. Historically vaccines in this country have been very safe, but I agree that there is still a lot of unknowns with this virus and vaccine. We are definitely treading new ground. This virus is obviously not just going to magically disappear one day as some had hoped. Without some viable option to fight it, I don't see how we can ever get back to any sort of normal that we once had. One thing that everyone should be concerned with that was previously mentioned is our medical system which in many areas is quickly becoming overwhelmed. You may be fine from COVID but just hope that neither you or any of your loved ones needs emergency medical care in that situation. I had to take my wife to the emergency room while we were away in September as she was having severe pain in her lower back. Luckily it was a kidney stone and passed within a day. I was not allowed to even go into the hospital and basically sat in the car getting updates texted from her. Luckily she was in a situation where she could still text. Had that not been the case, I am not sure what I would have done.

I’m not afraid to take it. I want to know what the side affects are if any. And how do they know how affective it is who or what did they test it on to get their percentages.

This is the first year I got a flu shot... I have never had the flu in my life... but I got it because I am taking care of my 94 yo mother..

There is another product coming out that interests me it has no side effects its only drawback the protection only lasts 8 hours its a nasal spray...

https://www.sotirascientific.com/

As to the vaccine.. I'm up in the air it looks safe it has the RNA of the virus and saline solution in it.. they say the side effects are a sore arm and a little fever..

I wear a mask everywhere... most in Connecticut do... the countries with the lowest infection rate mandates their citizens to wear them... we are not even close to bring on top on that list... we are like #17 and will probably drop even lower

If anyone brings up politics in the thread it will be closed.

I think England is starting to issue the shots this week . I would be worried about the Chinese version though , that they are going to be flooding much of the world with.

Not sure about anyone else but when I’ve had a head cold I’ve lose my sense of smell and usually taste.

I will not take the vaccine unless they go the round-about way of making it mandatory by restricting travel and such...which they will probably do. Nobody seems to really know what they're doing when it comes to Covid. It seems all guess work, to me.

And, just for the record, my wife is a MD with 25 yrs of practicing experience.

I would be more worried about taking the Russian vaccine. I had read that Putin wanted Russia to be first and that they only had tested the vaccine on dozens of people and it is being distributed now. Sputnik V it is called I believe.
