I don't recall hunting with you at all last year.

Man your on killing it again. Glade to see your still getting out. Most of our parks around here have been shut due to the BUG. You can walk thru them or jog but not able to do anything else. Stay safe bud. HH
Very kind words Carl, thank you. Not sure what killing it is but if this is what I'm doing then Cellrdweller (Jeff) has a massacre in his hands. We still can detect some park sites but more are being closed everyday because people are still gathering in groups. A lot of the schools are fenced and locked down here also. So locations are really becoming scarce, hence why I am pounding the same old grounds.
Our parks are all closed as well including the parking areas
Appreciate your reply. Wondering how about curb strips or abandon property's or empty lots for possible sites.
This sounds like an awesome contest! Haven’t dug any silver yet this year but hopefully soon!
Thank you Coinboy for the reply. It is only a drawing not really a contest and to be qualified it only takes a little participation. If you hunt grounds that hold Silver it then takes the time and effort to get your coil over them. Good Luck. Trapper

I’ve just been hitting my hillside. Found another musket pistol ball yesterday.

I have a nickel that I would consider my white whale- up until now I thought with some of the old coins I have dug that I would have found a shield nickel by now. I know it will come out of the ground quite rough but I want to find one. I felt that way about the V- nickel as well, but I did get one awhile back. 1912. Recently I found my first war time nickel 1945 s. So now my quest is the SHIELD. I love those nickels.
Congrats on so many silvers already this year.

Awesome contest trapper!!! Would love to find a barber quarter one of these days. On my bucket list for sure. Keep up the great work on the silvers!!! Thanks again for the doing the contest

Yes I am going to try this again. I am going to give away 3 Silver Half Dollars this year to forum members that comment on my threads. The idea is to spur more activity here on the forum as in participation. This is a giveaway not a contest. The prizes are again a Walking Liberty for first draw, a Ben Franklin for second and this year including a Kennedy Half Dollar for the third. This drawing is open to all forum members new and old. It is my hope to see at lot of the new people on these threads. There is a few changes to the rules this year. The winners most have at least one post on all my threads in the month of April (anticipating 3) starting with this one. All posts must contain at least 10 words and a complete sentence. All comment or posts must be placed in the month of April. April 30th being the last day. There will be a drawing that will take place on the First of May to pull the winners. I will at that time announce the winners and PM them for a mailing address. If by chance the Corona Virus shuts down hunting in Wisconsin this activity will be suspended and resumed at a later date. If any questions please PM me.
Now on to the report. My Silver hunt steak has continued for 2020 in which I have dug at least 1 Silver coin in every hunt this year. Now in fairness I must say my pig-headiness has helped to maintain it. A couple of the outings I would not quit until I achieve my goal adding several hours to those hunts. The results did get me into a little bit of trouble on the home front. The first of the five hunts was the best. It provided the the best two finds of all the hunts. A Barber Quarter that put a big smile on my face and another "V" Nickel were my spices. The "V" is my forth of this year and which now equals the total count of them for my career in this hobby. Have been in this hobby for over 10 years. For those that did not know it was my White Whale and only dug my first ever just a year and a half ago. Anyway, the next three outings I dug only one Silver in each and not much of anything else to speak of. The last hunt did give me a couple of Silver's with a Rosie and a Merc. The 7 Silver coins now has the count FTY at 31. I can only hope April can find some new grounds to play in as targets are becoming pretty uncommon of late. On to the next and good luck to all in the giveaway. Trapper

Nice ! Those V nickles are hard to come by, in my almost 30 years of swing'n I've stumbled across three of them.

Great post, as always. A nice Barber Quarter is always a welcomed find. Looking forward to tracking your progress this year. You are certainly accomplished in the silver seeking craft. One major trait to a successful coin shooter, (that is sometimes overlooked) is tenacity. Some hunts turn into very long ones, if you are determined to not stop until that silver coin comes.
Thank you Tyler for your kind words. Tenacity is a word that fits me pretty well, I like it a lot better than pig-headed which I have been referred to quite often over the years.
Not sure how I missed this post yet!

Congratulations on the silvers and the minimum of one silver per hunt, track record!

Like i say..........500 is out there!
Thank you for your post and support Craig. I still think that it will be a good year but not anything near your forecast.
Good to hear you're still getting out and killing it! Thanks for the giveaway.
Thank you Jerry. Getting out is easy these days just finding new hunting grounds is the tough part. Trapper

Trapper, Congrats on the continuation of sniffing out those silvers ! Great job..Also, great job on motivating the new and older members here to take a little more interest in what goes on here....Continued success to you my friend...HH !

Hello Trapper! Congrats on all the silver! I'm always amazed at how much you find. Congrats on that V nickel also! Thanks for the heads up on this contest. I haven't been spending much time on the forum since the virus took over. I haven't been hunting as much either. Worm and I haven't done a Sunday morning hunt in 3 or 4 weeks now.
Thank you Scott for your reply. The Virus thing has really put a damper to all else in our lives. For me I am blessed so far as having the time to get out and to hunt hard and without any interruptions. Hopefully you can get out a bit more even if it is just to relax and help keep the sanity.
Congrats once again on making some amazing finds! Great going on the sweet Barber! Its my turn now!!!!
Jer
Thanks Jer for the the kind comments. Hope you get your coil over that elusive Barber very soon. After that you will be wanting that Seated Silver also.
Thanks for the giveaway Trapper:D
I'm hoping to meet up with you for a hunt or two this year.
I don't recall hunting with you at all last year.
Thanks Matt. I think it has been a couple of years since we have met up. Heck I have not even seen Mike since last year early July. When the restrictions are relaxed we will have to make some arrangements for a get together. Trapper

Love the idea for the giveaway. Also congrats on all those silver saves. Impressive success rate!

Congrats on finding all that silver. The V was nice as well.
Thank you Rusty. No big coins but Silver just the same. Been having a pretty nice year going forward and have been thrill with the old nickels.

Appreciate you comments Charlie. The "V" was my white whale as it took almost ten years to dig my first. Dug three more last year and already this year I have added four more. I now also consider the Shield Nickel the new White Whale.
Awesome contest trapper!!! Would love to find a barber quarter one of these days. On my bucket list for sure. Keep up the great work on the silvers!!! Thanks again for the doing the contest
Thank you Outlaw for the reply. Hope that Barber Quarter finds its way under your coil much sooner than later. The drawing is just my way of giving back to the forum. Trapper

Ok I'm in and than you very much for the opportunity. Your success is phenomenal, something I aspire too. I too have gained so much from this forum, I only wish I was more successful. I have a 1943 George Washington quarter and I think that's it FTY. When I dug that one I fragged my left knee kinda bad from too many hunts too quick and it has been 6 weeks at least now and am only now being able to hunt again. Went back to the permission I dug the quarter and the owner comes out and hands me a bank bag full of coins and paper money! He is old and his wife just passed recently. I've valued coins for him in the past. The bank bag is full of foreign money and looking at it I dont have a clue. Sure does look good though! Wads of cash and a heavy bag of coins.
I get it home and check on it. Greek. Drachma. From before the Euro. About 60k drachma. The latest you could turn it in was 2012. Now worthless!
Trapper dude I have a can of mink oil that has your name on it. I use it to lube black powder boolits in my tulle fusil de chasse and others.. Are you they guy responsible for that?

Appreciate your comments Fred, thank you. I went almost 10 years in this hobby before digging my first "V" and since I have added 7 more in the last year and a half. Trapper

Thank you Andy as I always appreciate your replies. I had some other plans for my time this year but because of this Virus I am able to hunt with the extra time that is now available. Trapper
Love the idea for the giveaway. Also congrats on all those silver saves. Impressive success rate!
Thank your Trevor for the kind reply. Have been hunting at slower speed and in some trashy locations and the results have been coming in pretty good. Don't think it will continue as well but it won't be from lack of effort. Trapper

Haven't been here in a while but I see you're still raking in the silver Trapper!
Congrats on that Barber and the rest of those goodies. HH

Thank you for the kind words Ben. I really can't complain at what my results have been so far this year. This was not in my plans but since the Virus thing I am getting out for about 5 good hunts a week. By that I mean 4 to 5 hours minimum on each outing.

Glad your on board Dave. Sorry to hear of the Knee problem, not something a detectionist welcomes for sure. That guy was very generous with all the old Greek currency and coins. Hope your able to do something with it. As far as the Mink oil I don't think I am that culprit. I used all my essence and oils in making lures for catching more of those critters, The Mink Ranchers are probably the responsible providers of contributing to that product. It is really good stuff.
Haven't been here in a while but I see you're still raking in the silver Trapper!
Congrats on that Barber and the rest of those goodies. HH
Truly appreciate you reply Jose, thank you.I know I have not seen any thing on here for a while but hope we get to see some great finds from you in the near future. The Virus thing has allowed me a lot more time to hunt so the is the secret to this years success. Wish all the Barber's came out of the ground like this Quarter did. Trapper

Just a bit of a update. Repeating this drawing is open to all forum members new and old. Getting qualified for the drawing will be allowed on all three threads up to the last day which will be April 30th. You must have a post on all three threads and it must contain at least a minimum of 10 words. I will draw the winners on May 1st and pm the winners for their mailing address then post the names on each of the threads. Good luck to all. Trapper

I am just jealous that you can hunt.

We still have snow on the ground as of this morning at my house, and I don't do well with cold/frozen soil on my paws.

Nice recoveries.

Good digs.

Fantastic, great way to revive some interest in the forum. I've had some challenges this year that delayed my NOX 800 purchase. I'm still using my old Whites 6000 DI Pro-Plus. Plenty of clad, but no silver. Best of luck, thanks
