Ole Calabash Bashes Legend Again

Common sense tells me most folks new to detecting or have some experience although limited.
Could detector costs affect their thinking on which is best for their intended application?
Certainly.
But videos showing these tests paints a somewhat different picture.
Go look what At Max costs. Or even F75.
Or even Ace Apex.

Yeah, just looking at manufacturers sites with detectors and associated users manuals don’t give or show the real deal. Does it?
So these videos really help folks out imo.

This is where you are wrong TNNSS. CB has said for a long time the D2 is a game changer , superior , blows other machines out of the water , genius , etc. That is telling people to go out and buy. Semantics. He is recommending people get one. Don't sugarcoat it. It is what it is.

Folks can watch the videos.
And draw their own conclusions.
Buy what they want and hunt on beach the way they want.
Calabash never told anyone to buy detector Xxx.

It is not Calabash’s fault the detectors do some things better or even perhaps some things worse.
He didn’t make or engineer any of the detectors.
Neither did I.

Let’s put it this way.
Does it say in Deus 2 Manual.
Oh btw this detector capable of hitting gold rings at excessive depths. It may even detect a 16” Usa nickel in wet salt Sand using beach sensitive program.
No manual doesn’t say does it.
So a person wondering about Deus 2.
How will they find out.
Barring have a fiend buy Deus 2 and test and relay the info to them.
Even saying this the friend bought the detector in the blind not knowing how deep Deus 2 is in wet salt sand on lower conductors.

Imagine if Deus 2 would have debuted 25 years ago.
Would have took a long time for folks to find out about it wouldn’t it?
A treasure magazine might eventually reveal.
But what about folks not buying or reading treasure magazines?
And no detecting forums on internet. Or even no internet period for some folks.

I have watched the videos at the beach. That is why I have been critical.

WHY has Calabash not showed the Equinox and the D2 with the Equinox hunting in Horseshoe mode?

Many of us hunt in that mode and understand the advantages.

You do not make or engineer the detectors, but you should know how to use them, and show people the finer points.

Just like the video yesterday. Calabash buries a ring to 12" and states he can "hear it" both ways, but not giving TID. Yet the Equinox can only hit one way, which I agree with.
But with the Equinox in the Horseshoe mode, I already knew what would of really happened. You WOULD of had a solid two way hit 360 and WOULD of confirmed that target to be nonferrous.

Also, on our hunting of wild targets we found that once the Deus2 had lost the ability to TID it was very difficult to confirm the target is nonferrous by checking 360 degrees. The D2 seemed to show break down of signal in one direction on many of the targets we checked. [wild targets]

Over and Out..........

You really should go buy a go pro. And show us the real deal.
Clue us all in.

Experienced detectorists already know what I am talking about. Go-pro and lab coat not necessary.

Yeah.
You need to goback to beach section.
A real Deus 2 user seems thinks different than you do as far as dive program. Imagine that.

You weren't smart enough evidently to bury some high conductors on your supposed short stint with Deus 2 and check in dive program.
So much for your in-depth testing.:lol:

Yup, the Nox has a false-negative leaning behavior (e.g. calls a gold ring / many targets on the very limit of detection as ferrous), while the XP Deus II, especially in pitch mode, has a false-positive leaning behavior (e.g. calls both non-ferrous and ferrous targets as sounding non-ferrous at the very limit of detection). I believe this is just a SMF detector thing, and it's a design choice to have the machine sound either bias towards ferrous or non-ferrous when the machines ability to distinguish the two breaks down at the limit of detection.

I will dig TIDs down to -5 on the Nox if the pinpoint is localized and the target is deep. When I use the XP Deus II, it's a little easier to get fooled by deeper nails, but that also seems to confer some advantage in picking out a non-ferrous among iron.

Yep, TNSS just puts on another coating of teflon with almost every post.

Well,
Let’s see another SMF detector strike a 16” deep USA nickel in wet salt sand?
Does this same detector if it exist weight the same or less tha deus 2?
Deus 2 does have Deus 1 ops? So carpet of nails unmatched performance for coil size.
Does have 5 year warranty for water machine. Is there another?

I could go on and on.

You define what you think is a game changer detector please?
In your own words.

Btw, where are all the videos where user of excal and deus 2 are compared even excal with skullkes where excal is even matching or exceeding Deus 2?
Deus 2 been out long enough.
Since these videos don’t exist this tells me what? Guess.

I remember about 3 years ago digging -5 with my Nox and pulling big gold rings , deep. People were calling me crazy , didn't know what I was talking about, that's impossible , etc. I should have kept my pie hole shut as it appears to be common now.🤣

A game changer would be a detector that visually shows the exact outline of targets.

For example, the Nokta Makro Invenio. NM just needs to get the cost down and the resolution up. This is where the future of metal detecting is, and this will be a true game changer.

The D2 doesn't even come close to the definition of a game changer.

Not sales pitch.
The detectors do what they do.
I can’t control what they do or can’t do.

Yeah considerable depth advantage in some mind may indeed be a game changer.

So if manufacturer releases VLF detector that can hit 13” dimes in medium mineralized soil with 11” coil.
Would this or could this be considered a game changer?
I think it could be.

"I can't control what they do or don't do". But you sure do try ! Look , what it all boils down to is you and your significant other are just trying to be "influencers". Plain and simple. If you were to be honest with yourself , maybe you could then be honest with others. Admit it , own it. Even THE KOB doesn't know everything. He screws up on the daily believe it or not ! But people would respect you more and you might even gain some credibility. It's not always about blasting every link and tidbit out there for the people.

I'm not buying the 13" dime claim. That is why I say setup buried/nail coins videos are not worth much when it comes to real life conditions.

I've never owned the Legend or Deus II, but I have owned the Equinox 800 and I've seen plenty of videos that tell me where it compares with the other two. I've got a city park with known coins in the ground for over 100 years at 12"-24". I know the NOX 800 can't hit them, and my guess is neither would the other two contenders. I'd put the E-Trac up in the park against any of them.

All a sudden we have gone from this detector can go " deep, to unmasking is everything.

I'm still waiting for those videos showing these new machines pulling deeper coins missed by older detectors?

I am not using the diving program on the D2 no matter what on a wet salt beach. I do not care about "high conductors"

As for smarts? I am smart enough to know your testing should include the Equinox in Horseshoe Mode against the Deus2.

You see, my information is free too.
If anything, I hope that some Equinox users that were not using Horseshoe mode have now opened their detectors to a brand new world! :cool3:

I never said such a detector existed.
Just what if? You seems to have missed the word if in my sentence above.
What would be considered a game changer detector?
Imo bbs and later fbs detectors when released were in fact game changers.
Deus 1 was game changer in its own right even with LF coil. And later with Hf coils too.
Excal was a game changer too in its day.
Eqx was a game changer in its own right.
Tarsacci mdt8000 non SMF is a game changer.
Deus 2 latest game changer released.

No, I watched the videos of a coin being buried at 16" and all detectors hitting it. RIGHT! LOL

I will agree I'm most impressed by the Deus II.

I didn’t do or show any test on beach.
You are dazed and confused evidently.

This is true. He comes across as a salesman for the D2. I've been saying that for months, because it is true. As a practicing economist, the first phrase they teach you in ECON 101 is "people respond to incentives". A free machine will do that.

But, what I find really bizarre, tho, is that members of this forum can post his content here, even tho he is banned, but I cannot post a link to my own content per forum rules, even tho I am not banned.

I love this forum, and appreciate the moderators (its a thankless job; I've done it for years in another hobby), otherwise I would not be a supporter, but I can't understand this philosophy.

I think the mods need to make a decision here. Either ban posting of CD's content by members, or allow members in good standing to post links to their own content. It just makes no sense.

If I want the forum to see my content (which admittedly isn't that good, but that is beside the point), I should do something to get myself banned, and then have a friend post links to my site.

How silly is that? I hope the mods consider this issue seriously. I grow weary of this becoming the CD forum. That said, I still appreciate all the work the mods and owners here do, and I've been on this forum for a very long time as these things go. Keep up the good work regardless of what you decide, and you still have my support.

But, just please consider my point. TIA
