Fisher Impulse AQ detector update

Yes , history is here land wise, however as far as hunting places, it's all private property , if you want to come down & knock on doors  , just let me know, knocking on door's is not my cup of tea, my luck , i would get buck shot on the 1st knock :rifle:, happy hunting.

Get a boat.. you can hunt to the high tide mark...

I'm posting on this because I want to bring it back up to the forefront so that Earl can me reminded to post again.

No news on the release of the Impulse AQ. I don’t expect an early release, and, yes, I had expected that it would be ready before now.

Thanks, Rick. Either way, when its here I’m ready. I’ve been out of the hobby for a while and my local detector shop closed. Where would be the leading place to order the AQ online, or otherwise?

How about a price? Maybe I'm waiting on something I can't afford. In which case I will just have to use the obsolete Equinox.

The manta/Impulse is a design which came to First Texas “out of left field” - Alexandre Tartar and his “Euroteam” didn’t start with a single design parameter which depended on existing First Texas platforms. The result is said to be a complex multi-layer board with close tolerance components to achieve previously unobtainable levels of sensitivity and low noise floor.

This all means that FT is probably stepping very carefully up to the threshold of “productionizing” not only the design, but more critically the production process. In a small organization like FT, that no doubt takes time and mistakes made at this stage could be crippling.

So what? So they have to do a careful balance between sales price, production cost, production lot size and marketing approach. They may well be considering entirely novel ways of introducing it to the market and distributing - at least the first production lot - of Impulse AQ’s.

None of the above is based on inside info - the stuff about the origin and nature of the design is previously disclosed in various forum posts.

The rest is my own speculation.

The price? Your guess is as good as mine - I expect it will not be cheap.

I saw somewhere a $2,100-$2,500 range.

Felix - if you find anybody who will bet you are wrong - my guess is you should take their money and run!

Rick - Wouldn't be the 1st time in my life that I was wrong about something. But I did read somewhere that price range which I understand may be someone's conjecture.

I don't know where you heard that or is it wishful thinking... my guess is $3500 to $4000 this is a "niche" detector... its not going to be for everyone Felix... but with the job you have... open up that wallet squeaky

No way Craig. They tend to put a big MSRP out there then it’s about $700 less. At $3000 that would put it in the CTX price range.

Unique way of rolling them out.... are you talking limited amount at first? 1 meter depth rating...hopefully they improve that on this already notch machine. I plan on getting mine wet...continuously wet. I’m hoping for a good build.....

What about my question above? I’ve been out of the hobby, what are the go to online retailers for Fisher Impulse? Or is that against forum rules?

Well I ask some one ....already for HIS dealer.....HE didn’t have one

I don’t think even the dealers are in the loop on this one.
