A week ago today I dug my first Shield nickel. A second year 1867. Yesterday I dug another at the same place. No date as it was pretty worn out. Today I dug another one. Best I can tell it's 1871. It's the second best out of the three. The sand in this field is pretty kind to them I think. Most I see posted are in horrible shape. This is the same field I got my first half-dime a week ago Saturday. I have not dug a single IHP out this spot so far. My buddy did get one. I think I'm up to 7 flat buttons now. This field will probably be planted soon. I doubt I can get many more hunts in there this spring.
