You should read Buellride's post first because he had an epic day of hunting. Then this brief account of my side of the hunt will fill in the rest. As noted, we were out early to beat the expected rain. Older neighborhood with some intriguing looking curbstrips. About 20 minutes in, next to a driveway that crossed the curbstrip, I got a funky signal on the Manticore. First in the nickel range of 27-28, then a high squeaky 90-91. Cut the plug, groped around and finally saw a silver edge of something peeking out of the plug. At first, when I pulled it out I didn't recognize it as a ring because it was so mashed. Looking closer I noticed the eagle motif and thought it was pretty special. The way the ring was mangled, I couldn't see any hallmarks, so was uncertain if it was in fact silver, and God forbid- gold? Stuck it in my pouch and continued hunting. I did recover a Merc towards the end of the day, so I felt pretty satisfied. It was great to see Paul recover the SLQ, and even more fantastic to see the Barber half recovery. After the hunt, I was able to do a reasonable job of returning the ring to some semblance of roundness. It was marked 925 and 12K (the eagle and the leaves are apparently gold), so a combo of silver and gold! Looking forward to our next outing. Gl&HH
