Went out with RainorShine this morning trying to beat the rain that is falling in the PNW. We got out and within 20 minutes Gale picked up a gorgeous Black Hills Gold and Sterling ring (he will hopefully post that). Finds were a little thin after that but about 2 hours into the hunt I spotted a father and son packing up their car.
After speaking to the father for a bit I got permission to hunt their yard. This is where the Karma comes into play. The son (about 6 years old) was following me around his yard and every piece of clad I found I gave to him. He was beyond excited and kept showing his parents the "treasures" I was gifting him.
Finding nothing in the yard I decided to focus on the curb in front of their house and the first target I found was the purple amethyst ring (4.1 grams of .925). Being that the boy was busy focusing on Gale, I pocketed the ring and kept swinging.
The next target, less than 5 feet away was "another clad quarter" signal, which I dug at only 3 inches down. The little boy and his mother came over to look at the "treasure" and I wiped away the dirt in the clod and saw the silvery ring of a silver quarter. I announced to the boy "I am going to keep this quarter". Then I revealed the quarter and it was an SLQ!! I figured maybe a Washington and NOT a SLQ in the middle of the curbstrip .
We gave the boy some additional clad items and they/we departed.
One of the last permissions we had the Manticore gave me wonderfully solid 95 that didn't waver...I was thinking silver quarter again, but a Barber Half Dollar was staring up at me in the hole (1910S). Karma came full circle for me!!!
The Barber Half is the LAST coin that I need to round out my "bucketlist" for the West Coast. I have found seateds, IHP, barber dimes/quarters, etc. but the Barber Half had eluded me until today. Now I can focus on all the East Coast coins I need to be finding for the next 10 years LOL.
Happy Hunting and Good Luck!
