2018 Wisconsin Old Coin Contest

We have a new front runner in the Wisconsin Old Coin Contest, and he did it TWICE! Firstly,an 1835 Capped Bust Dime. Then even older,an 1833 Largie! Congrats Trapper,we have just over 3 weeks to catch you,and it won’t be easy! But don’t think we won’t be trying!

Seeing you made me aware Kevin I best post the pic's. I hope the owner gets that grass cut as I only did about 20% of the yard. I'm sure there will be more goodies waiting to have me put my coil over it. Trapper

Thought I'd let you know I went on a hunt with Air Force Mike this morning. I showed him the Large Cent to verify the date of 1833. Then went and dug another Large Cent, this one is in very nice shape. This is now my second oldest coin as it is 1834 knocking the Capped Bust Dime to third. This was dug in a Brew City Park. I'm buying lottery tickets for sure this week. Trapper

Not sure this is fair, I should get handicapped a few years.

There is one thing competing against professionals, but competing against experts is a whole another ball game. Lol

Trapper I'm thinking that place could has some left over 1700 coins. Obviously not inhabited then, but think of the old coinage we carry today.

Congrats and Good luck my friend kick some Arse this weekend.

You do realize Craig, it only takes one coin to make my season go away and it could be you in the limelight. You know what I'd be very fine with that as this year has already brought me more fanfare and great memories than I thought possible. Remember it ain't over until its over. Trapper

I found this coin. It has some guy name George on it. He claims to be a King or something. I found it. Yeah. In a curb strip tear out in Racine, Wisconsin. Yeah, that's the ticket. Racine. I found it with my wife, Morgan Fairchild. It was in such good condition, the Smithsonian contacted me and BEGGED me to give the coin to them. Yeah. Give it to them, so ummm, I did. Yeah. I gave it to them, for umm, 100 MILLION dollars. I'm a member of the Racine Pathological Metal Detector club. Yeah, umm, not just a member, but I'm uhhh, yeah, the President. Yeah, the President, the president of Wisconsin.

Your not alone Groundhog.
Like usual my strategy for 2019 is get out there on January 1st and chisel something out of the frozen tundra.. anything with a date . 10 seconds of being the king of the hill is better then nothin .
There are a lot of good Wisconsin hunters out there. It's gonna take a great site and a lot of luck after that to grab the coveted title .

It’s over! This morning brings a new crown and our oldest reported coin from the great state of Wisconsin,an 1833 Large Cent found by Trapper(jack and jill). Needless to say,the title comes in addition to a season which has seen some other firsts for our friend from the Milwaukee area!
Congratulations SIR! More later....but for now,the contest is closed.

You sir, are no Jack Kennedy!
Imagine my power being usurped by a Boston Red Sox type character.
Now I will say one thing, my KG coin was actually found in Milwaukee, in the roadbed, not the curbstrip.:laughing:
Luckily I am not the president of Wisconsin, just the Milwaukee Metal Detecting Group - meeting next Tuesday...
