Can we assume the firmware can be updated via USB?
With it having the ability to run a high single frequency, I bet it has no problem nailing small gold.

The 600 model, even it looks and sounds promising for those who want to save some bucks.
This could get interesting with these 2 models.
And Minelab just might not have over hyped as much as some may think.
Good coil size selection reasonably priced,,,game on big time!!
I like you can use your own headphones or ear buds.
Attractive/flexible.
Minelab has had their thinking caps on!!
I'm impressed!!!
Maybe to put this into perspective.
Like a home run hit, but the batter who hit the home run, is still standing on the plate, and the pitcher has to pitch to them again, and again, and again. With additional balls going over the back fence into the bleachers.
Maybe I'm wrong.
We'll see.
May need tourniquets though I think.
Based on what the gent said in video,,we may see the 600 model roll out earlier than 800 model.
They hit it outta da park!!!
What!? The 600 is multi frequency?! I'll take one for$600?SWEEEEEEET!!!#
The EQUINOX Series is the all-terrain multi-purpose detector that obsoletes all single frequency VLF detectors. Equally adaptable for all target types and ground conditions… just select your detecting location and go!
Minelabs own words.... The EQUINOX Series features Minelab's revolutionary Multi-IQ technology that obsoletes all single frequency VLF detectors.
Never says it will obsolete FBS AND FBS2 technology.
It is exciting, but it seems the tone of the posts is going the direction of peeps selling off what they have like this will replace every detector out there? Have we not had this discussion like 10,000 times over the years ,,, there is no one detector for every situation and every single person. And i do not think in the end this one will be either.
Will i buy one? Probably i have bought most everything out there to try it.
Just trying to keep everyone grounded , every time i open my laptop and log in , it wants to launch out of my lap with all the enthusiasm on the forum!
I think the 800 has two extra frequencies, 20kHz and 40khz. If you didn't care about HF, the 600 seems like a great deal, of course I want the HF options though
Also a major difference between the ML and Impact is the ability of the new ML to run multiple frequencies simultaneously, that's a big deal. I wonder if the Equinox has a noise cancel?
Don't know if this has been said or not, but I'm thinking the multi-frequency setting was incorporated into this machine for saltwater beach hunting?? That makes this unit a Do IT ALL machine. No need to have another multifrequency machine for the beach.
Need to see detector in action, or at least get some info from trusted source(s) as far as how they both perform in salt water.
As far as the multifrequency goes, a few things.
Does multi freq use give better ID on all depth detected targets.
Or just the shallow or midepth targets?
Does muti tone use expose say bottle caps moreso than single freq use.
How much depth if any is sacrificed by utilizing muti freq vs single freq (obviously depending on single freq used and conductivy /size of nonferrous target) ?
Seems a user can toggle pretty fast changing freqs and going to multi freq.
How does ground balance here work,,does a person have to GB with freq change?
Or is the GB value so small (per detector design) it wouldn't hurt very much performance wise if a user didn't do GB after freqs option change?
Ground mineral levels here may enter into this equation.
Bit off topic, but I haven't heard anything said as far as ID of targets vs freq changes. No mention of Vdi normalization, maybe it is just built in.
Could be a pain in the arse if ID changes with freq changes,,take some memory work if ID does change.
It has both manual gb and tracking feature.....
