New Minelab Equinox

Just Wondering......

If everyone is so hyperventilated about simultaneous multi-freq technology, why do you not own a V3i? Just curious.

In my experiences,Minelab FBs multi frequency machines do great in iron, better than most that claim to excell in iron..I keep reading this thread and seeing it said that multi frequency are crippled in iron,,that couldn't be further from the truth in my experience as a coin hunter.
Maybe for a relic hunter,I don't know because I'm no relic hunter. But for coins,Minelab has always prevailed over all machines,in iron or not.Ive hunted and found coins in a clump full of nails with the Etrac,so I'm not sure why it keeps being said multi frequency aren't good in iron?

Having a detector good in and around iron.

A couple things needs to happen as far a tech breakthrough.
Either less or the same amount of date is gathered as before but processing can recognize targets as nonferrous with maybe even less information.

Or more data is acquired, and processed ( could be faster) than previous models.
But frequency drives the amount of possible different information over a smaller span of time. (Could be considered splitting hairs, but this hair splitting can be a go or no go on a target).
Or a combination of both above.

Sorta like herding sheep through gate.
Only so many will go through at a time.
So we either widen the gate, or figure out a way to make actual sheep smaller and or speed up the sheep to get more through.

For example 5khz is really dead on deep nickel really,,so if 5khz was being time shared on a nickel,,could it be considered wasted time?? Valuable time too really.

One thing here.
Folks may assume since their detector is not giving tone, that no nonferrous targets are under coil.
Is this totally true?
We only get audio usually, so we don't know what is being felt by the processor in detector.
If the processor is giving no go commands for audio,,,we are none the wise metal exist under coil.
Or processor gives wrong command tone wise,,like iron tone where target is deeper yet nonferrous.
Or a heavily masked target near iron,,,just not enough data for processor to be sure hence signals only on the ferrous.

Yesterday I witnessed this using Deus HF elliptical coil where .deus LF coils have lived a whole lot.

The "gate" as you say is relative.....

Just like the 486 computer=Small gate, New computer =huge gate
The improvements WILL come, processing speed will improve, total data in a period of time will increase.. matter of time

Gotcha. What were they thinking is right. They couldn't have made a more breakable design if they tried. It should have been angled down at a 45 or less angle. Straight out the back with the length of the plug to boot is asking for trouble. It should have come in at the base of the handle IMO.

I never said for example CTX is terrible in iron,,there are better.
I had much rather use a CTX vs a white's XLT for example.
But what is that saying?

Put it this way, if Minelab would have released a 2 pound CTX,,performance that mirrors the original,,how many of those folks out west would pony up for one who hunt those old ghost towns?? Very few of the knowledgeable detectorist.

Now these Equinox units,,they just may pony up.

As ar as the CTX/Etrac on coins, coin shaped mid and higher conductors they do a lot better vs smaller than coin shaped, non disc shaped targets,,and the lower the conductor the worse they perform.
Some good small lower conductors in ghost towns for example.
The little gold dollar coin,,Equinox puts them in higher danger of being found Imwould think.

Actually a fair statement might me,,fbs/fbs2 users likely have left more $1 and $2.50 gold coins in the ground vs Deus users percentage wise in last 3 years.
And if this above statement is faulty.
I'll bet Deus users got tone on more $1 and $2.50 gold coins than the CTX/Etrac users did,, whether the coins were dug or not.

Yep that plug out the back is the only flaw, hopefully. I really like what I see
and will be saving up for the 600. I'm glad it has multifrequency at affordable
price. As long as its a high end deep detector I want one. My At pro isnt
that deep in my soil.

I heard in one of minelab videos that the prototype will not be final product cosmetically. There is a good chance after further testing and feedback they will change the coil wire arrangement as well as other potential weak points.

Sounds good, Minelab has got a great machine now thats affordable!
Bye bye Garrett,Fisher,Whites ,Tesoro etc,etc!

Was pretty eye opening, but keep in mind he was swinging right over the coins and they weren't naturally in the ground with halo's or rust particulates...but still, GEEZ!

That was a BIG and long piece of iron.

I may have 3 white elephants.
See below.

Notice battery run time in detector.
I think I see 12 hours.
Correction says I think minimum run time =12hours.
Likely freq used dependent.

GEE Thanks!!!!! The BOX! The VIDEO! I feel like Ralphie in Christmas Story....
I wonder if it has a compass in the stock and a thing that tells time.... Sorry...I just had a big glass of Ovaltine...seriously....I just did.
This will be must have next spring to add to my stable.

Don't know.
Wonder if you get a hat with purchase?? Lol

Folks need to see some water hunt vids.

And show the model 600 in action more.

Running Impact and being able to switch frequencies on the fly is unreal. When it gets quiet I run 5khz for deep seeking. When it gets more iron nails and Iron bits, I run 14khz for medium depth. In a real trash zone 20khz and the 4x7 coil for good depth and killer separation. I think the Equinox will compliment my Impact and visa versa. Once, you go multi frequency, you can never go back to a single frequency machine. Impact is like owning 12 different detectors in one unit. Myself, by adding Equinox, will equate to owning about 20 different machines and only two physically in the closet. I like this....

With 2 machines, this capable, the only excuse left is you....

😲above ground or not, that video on the speed test with that big piece of iron is impressive!!!

They should have shoved a CTX over that big iron with stock coil.
Wonder what would have happened?
I think I know.

That was down the barrel direction too, otherwise not as eye catching.
