New Minelab Equinox

Minelab has been screwing all those excal, etrac, and ctx users if we are to believe they can wrap all these features into a sub $1000 machine. Other manufacturers must be screwing us too. I hope not but it must have some limitations at that price

Yeah detector cost less than half a CTX.
And will be as good ??
And what 67% approx what a new Etrac costs.

Maybe Minelab found cheaper ways to make detectors.
Or what you are alluding to....

I mean after a while after release, could these quoted prices be even lower??
Then what.

And just what will a used Etrac or CTX even bring used??

Fishy sounding to me.

A couple hundred approx plus what a 17" CTX coil cost= Equinox 600.
Wow

Really interesting now. Same guy at about the 2:30 mark but completely clear:

Yep , what tnsharpshooter said about disguising test detectors seems to be the case with this one. Looks like a Garrett shaft , a Mars aftermarket coil , and some unknown and still secret control box. Either a disguised equinox , the promised new detector from fisher , or something whites is working on. The video did mention they had some super secret prototypes in the crowd.

Is that a cord going up the gents back??

Man you and Mud Puppy are the top runners for humor,. It is stuff like this that make my day each and every day

Im not sure I'm at MudPuppy's level of humor, that dude is hilarious, but I'm glad it got a chuckle.

All kidding aside though, this new machine looks to be lightweight, waterproof and potentially functional in the salt. All the things im looking for in my next machine. Will be patiently awaiting a chance to try one out!

Until then, everyone resume your crystal ball commentary:p

Will be interesting to see buoyancy factor in salt water and fresh water with these detectors.
Pretty light weight.
Has anyone seen pic with rod collapsed all the way?

Also, might be fair to say,,,trying to run coil cable thru rod is a weight increase thingy overall.

Having to increase diameter of rod, yet keep strong enough.

Not picking a fight or anything mate BUT what "hype" are you talking about?

This is simply a product launch telling us what some of the features are -
You should be the last person to be trying to ask me anything. You must be a Goshdarned idiot if you thought I forgot the remark that you made against me a while ago.....

This new machine has me intrigued because it is waterproof, which is the criteria of my next detector. Because like my Impact, it can use multiple frequencies on the fly. Good. It has 4 search modes, Impact has 12, Bad. It's coil cable wraps around the shaft, Impact is internal, bad. It has 1 more frequency (40khz) than Impact, good, but, there is no gold flakes here in CT and I seriously doubt that it could even come close to more dedicated machines designed for gold, bad.
It is waterproof to 3 meters, Impact not, Very Good! After I read all the testing from folks next spring that get them will be my deciding factor as to get the ATmax or Equinox only because of waterproof design. Across many other forums it has been stated that this machine is the Minelab response to the Impact. I feel the Impact was put into testers hands years before it was released to the population, which is well documented from multiple testers. Minelab.....ZIP!!!! They claim their own fame with no other input but their own..... I will not be replacing my Impact based on advertising alone and replacing it at all anytime in the near future.....

I think the 800 has two extra frequencies, 20kHz and 40khz. If you didn't care about HF, the 600 seems like a great deal, of course I want the HF options though :)

Also a major difference between the ML and Impact is the ability of the new ML to run multiple frequencies simultaneously, that's a big deal. I wonder if the Equinox has a noise cancel?

Well we don't know anything about performance yet but based off of what we do know..
Things I like:
*The light weight!
*Straight shaft should make for good balance
*Waterproof
*Can run a single frequency or multi.
*Shaft is mounted in the center of the coil like other Minelab detectors. Makes leveling the coil by pressing on the ground much easier.
*Price seems very reasonable if it has the performance to match.

Things I don't like:
*No trigger style pinpoint button.
*External coil wire.
*Only 25 tones vs 50 on the CTX
* No target trace. Something I find very useful.
*Single digit TID vs FE CO like on FBS units. Curious to see if this detector retains the accurate ID at depth that Minelab is known for.

Just my opinion but here it is. This machine is designed as a blow directed at xp deus. I think it was put out to compete with the deus and be even more than xp is offering on the deus right now for half the MSRP. It will also pull some away from the Impact as it is basically a super Impact. Do not expect it to be the machine that makes you sell your FBS unit, because it would be suicide for them to sell an 800 dollar machine that is better in every way than the 3030. I suspect it might be at best like an entry level fbs unit when in multi-freq. Which i love my Safari only one number but i kept it over my etrac/3030 because of cheap coil and rods selection and it for me did about everything i needed.

Think about it............. all minelab offered was either a go find or next step Safari at 1000 dollars . This machine is aimed at AT MAX, Impact, Deus users basically the whole mid level market even though this machine will be a bit above mid level in performance. Which will change the market for sure...

BUT NOT A GAME ENDER!!! MY ADVICE IS DO NOT RUSH TO SELL YOUR ETRACS/3030's!

Winner winner chicken dinner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Minelab would be cutting their own throats by offering a mid level machine that would destroy their two top end machines

I am assuming 6" coil will be round.
Need a 4x6 or 5x8" elliptical for at least the 800 model.

Or a 4.5"x7" elliptical coil.

Then we can let the games begin!!

Minelab should really consider selling at least the 800 model with multiple coil package like stock and small coil.

Who knows maybe they are reading here.

Something else,,when user selects multi frequency, which freqs exactly are switched?
Could they infact be different freqs altogether that are switched when using multi freq??
Or could these different freqs according to the specs,,,actually not be switched rather simultaneous as is implied in specs.

Ok, I'm thinking this might be my next machine.

Has anyone seen anything about a backlight?? I would think they would include such a simple, yet, incredibly useful feature. Maybe it hasn't been mentioned or incorporated yet since its still in the prototype phase...

Also, I really hope they find a way to tuck the coil cable inside the shaft.

You must be a ********* idiot

Here's my question, why can't I use a word for feces that starts with c and ends with p in a post on this forum, without the forum putting a **** in place of the word I typed, but yet someone can use a MUCH more offensive word, and it's OK? :?:

You just have to get creative with the crapp !!

This means us low lifes are gonna get to pick up a cheap impact/atmax/ ?? pretty soon !!!
