Hi everyone, I am looking for a new metal detector for up to $600. I have used someone else's off and on. Now I want my own. I will use it in grass or beaches. Any help will be appreciated.

Sorry I can't help much because we have no beaches here in southwest Kansas. I just wanted to say welcome to the forums from Dodge City.

If the beach is salt water, you’re going to want a detector that runs in multi-frequencies/multi-iq like the Nox 600/700 or their Vanquish models. I’ve had an 800 for years and no complaints
Thank you. The beaches will be fresh water.

I just got a Nokta Triple Score Package (I am new but also have an Equinox900 and Manticore).
The Triple Score pack was under $500, comes with Headphones and a second coil.
Easy to use, Multi frequency (though it lacks on the highest frequencies compared to my others), Durable and accurate.

I think this is a good fit for your budget and would be a great backup if you later move up to a higher budget machine.

Don't forget a good pinpointer to go with whatever you choose!

Hello overo.
Welcome to this nice forum.

You wrote that you used someone's detector from time to time.
What kind of device was it and how did you get along with it? Did you like it? And if not, what didn't you like at all?
What did you find with it and to what depth, and by the way, what would you like to find?
Some of these answers might help narrow down the search for a detector.
Another question would be, has it to be a new device or wouldn't a used one also serve the purpose for your project?

regards

IMHO I'd go for the Nokta Triple Score or Legend. Both would suit you well in the environments you will be hunting. The Vanquish from Minelab would work for everything except the wet part of the beach-as it isn't waterproof. I found my Minelab Equinox 600 used on Craigslist for under $400. It has worked very well for me on the wet and dry. Whatever you choose, best of luck to you and happy hunting!

Are there still issues with the pinpointing mode on the triple score? I saw calabash digger had a video that showed pinpointing issues.

Great Choice! The Nokta Triple Score is a great pick!

The Minelab X-Terra Elite Expedition pack has 2 coils with it and a free pointer from Minelab till the end of September. Great setup there!
