What do you think of this Excalibur?

Cfmct, who does the type of modifications that you are suggesting and how much do they damage the budget that would have already taken a $1600 (?) hit? low tide, I would get it specifically for the marine water usage if it really is superior for that purpose. Other usage would be gravy.

The earliest incarnations of the Excal were every bit as good as any subsequent incarnation. And that "horseshoe" coil was popular. That's a good machine *if* you like the Excalibur line. I say "if" because some people (myself included) didn't care for the long annoying bbbeeeooonnngggg sounds.

If you've never detected before, then perhaps this won't bother you. But if you're moving from various other machines, then this new freaky tones can be annoying. After awhile, you get used to it. But it can be very annoying at first.

Tony Eisenhower out in Southern California did one for a friend last year or the year before... OBN did mine but he is retired from that...

Rock ... if OBN thought the Deus or the Nox and for that matter the Manticore was deeper than the Excal, he would be swinging one... PP mode deepest on excal and with PP mod its just a matter of flicking a switch instead of switching it on the tube which is a pita... and get a good pair of headphones as well put on it... OBN can help you with that... he was putting skullies when I had mine modded...

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the excal. For the beach esp if you actually get in the water is THE ONLY WAY TO GO.

OP, just increase your budget $1200 and get a Manticore.

OBN can help you with that... he was putting skullies when I had mine modded... ) Not confirmed , last statement from OBN lust in love , he isn't even making battery mod's , Joe need's to speak here , on , if he's doing anything for member's , as NO go battery mod , Hi . honey vacations , & liquidating his gold for his GF is all I see him doing , let's be honest here 135 gold year down to 5 ? Something besides the lust of love is going on PS No doubt , he does good work , he did mine in the past , great job , but status unknown . Maybe Stay Puff/ Sugar Daddy ----- will chime in Shipping charges to & return East Coast to West have sky rocketed, That's the killer on sending equipment to Tony for work , to & back 200 clams on machines , OBN I took my equipment to him ! Skullies are nice , if he is still doing that ! PS a 14.8 battery mod , he told me NO , ( This is 6 to 12 months down the road ) , when 14.8 will not roast my machine , puts a little birdie in my ear , along with 135 G, to 5 G for the year
