I didn't really know him all that well and I'm way too new to have much of a say... but I do know he PM'ed me about the Tesoro Cibola when I had questions and basically convinced me it was the way to go as my first MD.

Clemsonite, OT was not banned for debating with another person, though he was cautioned several times on how to properly debate without baiting the other individual. His ban was due to other reasons that could not be overlooked. I will not go into the details.

I hear you. A lot of folks here don't want details they just wanted to know why....without a lot of details, so they don't get in the same situation. This is the last I'll speak of it because I realize the situation may be deeper than I think.

Yes, I hope the folks on here know that the ban option is not entered into lightly. Certain actions will not be tolerated on this forum and it doesn't matter who does it. Decisions like that are always discussed beforehand and are made to make the forum the best that it can be for all of our members. As stated before, if you want drama, insults, and confrontational behavior... there's other forums that can take care of those needs.

He can always make another email and come back as an alias. No one ever truly gets banned unless this forum is advanced enough to implement a hardware ID ban or ban your IP address. I doubt it is that advanced though. Even if you had a hardware ID ban you could always login to someone else's computer and troll from there.

His banning had nothing to do with his debate on the boards... nothing...
We edited what we felt was over the top opinions and drama... it came afterwards and had nothing to do with who he was debating with...
Let me add he left the board on his own then we banned him...

Something interesting happened to me about 20 minutes ago. I thought I'd share this with you. I went to a school 2 miles down the road from my house to MD a school I have done many many times at night with no problems, until tonight. My advice is at the bottom of the story, sorry for the long post in advance.
I got out the MXT and other equipment, turned on my red beam headlamp and started swinging. I got about 5 pieces of junk and then I see a car pull into the school and park behind my car. I notice the very distinct Crown Victoria headlights. "Great. Now the cops are going to think I'm doing something bad." So I just kept on swinging like normal and got a solid half dollar signal! Then a light from the cop points right at me. I'm thinking "oh great, what does he want". He tells me to drop what I'm carrying and put my hands on my head as if I were holding an RPG. I comply and he comes over and frisks me down very thoroughly....
He then proceeds to flash his light on my MXT. He's all like, "what's that?". I said flatly, "a metal detector". I told him to search my pouch. He did and found garbage and an unopened brand new pack of AAA batteries. He asked where I got them from. Where else? The store of course! (didn't say that but was thinking it). I think he was suggesting I had stole them.
After he tells me how suspicious my car was parked and how it looked with a guy walking around swinging a metal object with a red light on the head, he takes my license and tells me he is going to check on any known warrants for my name. I tell him, "please be my guest, do you need my insurance also?". I'm being super nice to him. As he's checking my information another squad car pulls in! "Wonderful, I'm being arrested for no reason. Awesome". Turns out the little weiner guy all of 5 foot 5 called in backup, for a METAL DETECTORIST! HA! I guess the Lesche did the trick.
When all was said and done I told them to keep up the good work and he said sorry he had to tell me to leave and stuff. I told him the summer heat makes me hunt at night - he seemed to understand but it still annoyed me. This was my only chance tonight to hunt for a while.
To end my post: Please if you're going to hunt at night anywhere, make sure the area is either well lit and open or HIDE your car better than I did tonight and do NOT hunt anywhere near the road. I had been doing that mostly but there have been times where a cop has passed me at night and I was detecting WITH bright headlamp and they just kept going. I guess this cop was just looking for trouble where he could find it. In the country by an old middle school. Anyways, HH and hope you don't get frisked like I did!

So you had to leave because the crazy cop couldn't see straight??!! What nonsense. I would have had a thing or two to say to that guy and I won't say it here because its family hour.

Wasn't worth it to argue. I went back the next night and just parked further away. This is the kind of cop that'd arrest you for correcting him or not complying to his every command. I just don't care to deal with it. I think he was a newby cop anyways.

As far as harrassment, I did away with any of that pretty much. Cost me about 70 bucks. I made myself look real professional so to speak. It really helps with the door knocking for permission. A lot! I bought two of the magnetic door signs for my truck, made cards to hand to anyone that wants to know who I am. If I am visible from any road I put on one of the flourescent orange vests with the reflective stripes on it. Everybody knows I'm working....hehehe....I'm really enjoying my hobby to the fullest. I always park my truck in a very visible spot where the magnetic signs can be read easily. Here's a few pics.....In other words everybody KNOWS what I'm doing. The Free service really helps, I will work for tips. I did have a lady watch me yesterday just in case I found some jewelry. Gotta love it..............
