WOOT!
Congrats on the new detector!joy I'm like a kid again , charging it right now great design well made , love the magnetic charging plug , a little apple in their , the one and only gripe I have is the wireless is not bluetooth , but I will live !

Good marketing by Minelab. Make it waterproof and look like a Nox. But truth be told multi-frequency outperforms single frequency 99% of the time. I hope everyone that gets one enjoys them
Not so sure of that. not where I live anyway, an kind of hunting I do.
That's the opposite of what others have said in this thread. It has already been proven a single frequency will, in most cases, outperform multiple frequencies.
But it is true and the savvy design engineers know it. Single Frequency can outperform most SMF's all around. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, but there are those in-the-know who prefer to select a SF on the Equinox or Apex rather than use SMF in certain applications. That's the opposite of what others have said in this thread.
Not really! That's the opposite of what others have said in this thread.
That's funny.Not really!
As Monte pointed out I think some are looking at it differently. MF is a great improvement over SF and one could claim better performance because being able to change the frequency to meet your needs is no doubt an improvement. As far as performance, a single-frequency detector will outperform a detector running in SMF(simultaneous multi-frequency) in most cases.
We'll just have to agree to disagree. I owned the NOX 800 and now the Deus 2 and single frequency got better depth and faster recovery.I have tried single frequency on my Nox many occasions and am not impressed. Multi always outperforms.

Ground/beach mineralization conditions overrule everything, with target selection as far as size, depth and conductivity along with EMI also being a factor as far as what type of detector or frequency settings to use.But it is true and the savvy design engineers know it. Single Frequency can outperform most SMF's all around. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, but there are those in-the-know who prefer to select a SF on the Equinox or Apex rather than use SMF in certain applications.
Those models do not feature a SF option to 'dumb-them-down' so logically a SF can outperform a SMF at times.

You do not need to go over the ground with different frequencies. We have been using single frequency detectors for many years with no problems. It seems that the mid frequencies work best for most metals. 10 kHz to 15 kHz seems to give the best overall response. In any case, a single frequency will detect high conductors such as silver, to low conductors such as gold. In my experience, smf is little more than a marketing stunt aimed at those new to detecting. A single frequency will outperform smf.I'm hoping to buy a Minelab 440 in the near future. Someone suggested the X-terra Pro, but I like the SMF better than SF.
The problem I see with SF is you have to go over the same ground with each frequency.
I'm a noob, so I could be totally wrong.
Minelab in their add for a Vanquish says "ALL METALS. ALL SOILS. ALL THE TIME." How can a SF beat that?
