Oldest Finds?

oldest money

Hey! Didn't prehistoric men used to use seashells for money? I've found MANY of those on the beach! ;) I guess that's the oldest I have found ... seriously though, thanks for the great post everyone, you keep me going! I do have a 1918 wheatie, but most of my finds have been clad and junk jewlery. I have found a few silver rings and one gold without the stone ... but hey! Someday! I love history and would really enjoy finding some of the things you all have found ... UK! U ROCK! I love the finds you people make!

Update to my post on page #2 of this thread. I found an Indian arrowhead this past Sunday which I am told dates back between 6000 and 2000 BC. Photo in Stories and Pictures of Finds under thread "Old & New (irony)".

my oldest find that i know of is an 1806 half cent , and boy was i trippin when i found it . i thought to my self dam just another quarter and then when i cleaned it up enough to identify i was like a circus clown on crack ! i watched a guy go right over a spot and followed behind him just for kicks as im sure we all have done at some point to a fellow detectorist or fellowet , even just to see how they react to there machines responces . well long story long , i own it and no body taking from me now .
