Issue with my Deus 2

I've had a rough year for detecting. Extreme drought in Southern Wisconsin and I went about 2 months with health issues. But I finally got around to updating my Deus 2 to version 1.1 about 3 weeks ago. I only got out twice about 2 hours each after the update. I noticed that all the coins I was finding were in the 2-4 inch deep range. So last week I buried a dime at about 7 1/2 inches in my backyard. When I tried to find it with the Deus 2 I could not get a signal. I tried the following programs with sensitivity at 97: General, Sensitive, Sensitive FT, Fast, Park, and Deep HC. Nothing. :) I attempted this on 3 different days, including after a light rain.

I didn't make any other adjustments or fine tuning because I expect a detector to find a 7 1/2 inch deep coin with a standard program. It shouldn't be an issue.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Hey Scott…It’s a bit misleading when these guys in the UK talk about a “deep coin” and it’s a whopping 6” deep, that’s not usually our game. Reactivity HAS to be low with a 7.5” coin, 2 being the MAXIMUM with a 9” coil on a dime with a medium sweep speed. Try opening the machine all the way, no disc or notch whatsoever and make sure your VOLUMES in your AUDIO settings are on and up. Does it respond? Numbers? I’ll be back later to see what you find…🙂

Also, how is the soil where you buried the coin? If it’s highly mineralized or full of tiny bits of iron junk like my backyard, you probably won’t hit a 7.5” coin regardless of settings or detector used.

So true! Paystreak just did a video on this...

There some setting turned off by default and some turned on by default, make sure your setting are correct.
9” coil should be crazy deep so I don’t know about your coil

I had the same issue, did the update and my depth drastically dropped. I’ve been using it for over a year and a half and this is not the same machine. Checked all my settings and planted some coins: Deep HC, reactivity 1.0, power 99, silencer 0… I was barely getting 6 inches on a US quarter . It would show a short line on xy screen and a faint tone. Rechecked the hole and no signal after I retrieved the coin.

I just sent it in for warranty work and hopefully they will fix my issue. When I talked with the warranty center and started explaining my issue, they didn’t throw a bunch of suggestions, they just told me to send it in.

I’m wondering if the update is causing issues with some machines.

This sounds like a Nokta Legend discussion about how version 1.11 is not nearly as deep as version 1.09. Anyway, I have a Deus 2 with 9" coil and 13X11" coil. I have not noticed any depth loss after doing the update from version .71 to 1.1 and now 2.0. All I have noticed is Deus 2 getting better and better with each well established update. I noticed the same with the Nokta Legend too. Some people obviously don't.

I sorta/kinda have to agree

seems ever since I went 1.1, seems most everything small is coming up shallow

did you send it in yet??

please let us know if any changes when you get it back

I did send it in, should be there on Thursday. I get possibly screwing up some settings and hurting the performance of the machine. But software update and different factory programs ( no changes to program )not being able to hit a quarter deeper then 6 inches, something is wrong.

I agree the updates were definitely improving the machine, not sure what happened.

Who told you a 6" coin is classed as deep in the UK? 🤣

Qy Uote Did you try lowering the reactivity? I have hard time believing it wouldn't pick it up in reactive 2 or lower... I pulled a trime a few weeks ago at least 10 deep.

I ended up sending mine in, it would barely hit a US quarter in 6” hole. Before last update it would have hit that coin with the unit off.

Took my ORX out after I sent it in and tried the same test, no problem at all. I’m not sure what I did wrong but hopefully I will get it back soon. Minnesota is starting to get cold and my season is just about over.

I've some other problem with my D2
I can't update it at all. I did all correct and sent the video to XP, so they ask to sent it service.
And by the end of the season I got a problem with the screen ws6, a can't read signs and set up any settings...
So the service told me that it's the first case like this...
Just wait for the results

First of all it would e better to update firmware once again. It might be mistakes while downloading.
And try to delete coil and connect it once again.

The machine is back to what it used to be, hit a silver dime over MI6 pinpointer deep. Xy screen is accurate and my depth is back.
Glad you are back in action. Some of the beaches I detect, I hit dimes down 16". Nickels hit at 14". If you do an update and lose those depths or just plain lose depth you know easier something is wrong. Luckily I have all three size coils so can test to see if it's a coil issue.
