I've dug an 1881 Indian Head Penny in this area and also a military button listed as 1850/60's. This is a park but very old property.
Just wanting to know what you guys think the age of the nail might be.
It is about 4 feet off the ground and sticks out of the tree about an inch.

That's a modern cut nail used for fastening to concrete. Maybe 20 years there?

sometimes my imagination gets the best of me.
There's no cement there, but I believe something happened. There was a circus about 2 miles down the road that made its'
permanent home there before 1900 and used the railroad to travel to shows in other towns.
That being said this part of the park is just a 2 stones throw off the railroad track.
The park was part of land belonging to a family going to the mid 1800's.
There was a structure close to it. But 1800's. early 1900's
A lot happened here and is why sometimes I think things might be older than they are.
I thought the nail is older than 20 years. earlier 1900's
But this is a process of discovery and I might be way off.

Thank you for your input,
