thanks for looking.

Nice catches! Can you eat a catfish that big?

im sure ya could but i dont. i release most all fish i catch unless its crappie or flathead catfish under 10#. them big cats are hard to come by and i let em go hoping they pass on some of them good genes.

Nice pictures Relic... I used to fish quite a bit but now since metal detecting in the water my poles collect dust as do my land machines ;)

Wow; you mean the fish in those pics are still swimming around somewhere? That's pretty cool.

Man! Where I live, we have some big Blues and Flatheads, but I don't think anybody can top those of yours. Do you use live or cut bait? I sold my boat last spring, and if I ever go again, I'll be from the bank. If I were catching cats like those, I may have to let the detecting go!!

normally cut skip jack herring or gizzard shad and also use a bit of live bluegill/bream. 95% of my fishing is done from the bank, ive got buddies with boats but i seem to do better from shore, some times i use a canoe to take my baits out and drop them in precise locations but thats about the extent of my boat fishing.

nice fish!!! Like the pix of you with your daughter (??) passing on more than one wholesome hobby!!

Good deal, Relic. My father always said(about boats) that people on the bank throw out away from the bank, while people in the boats throw towards the bank. I think he had a point. However, if you have a boat, you have a hole in the water to throw alot of money into(at least that's been my luck). Thanks for sharing the pics and info.

Those are some real nice "cats", alot bigger than we have up here. I like the pole holders in your pictures - is that something you made or are they store bought, never seen anything like them & sure look handy. In my area we fish for catfish in the Oswegatchie River/Black Lake & the St. Lawrence River. I'm sure that not many of you have probably heard of these places. Steve.

Nothing better in the whole wide world to eat than a catfish !! I was a crappie fisherman till aboiut 5-6 years ago and detecting took over. 2 -3 pound crappie not unusual in our lake, 5 1/2 lb the record. Great trophies you show there - my biggest cat is about 8 lbs. The nearest water to me is about 2 1/2 hour drive. steve in so az

thanks and yes i made the rod holders here at home.
If they are not too hard to make and you have the time you ought to make a bunch and sell them on eBay or to a fishing store. I bet you could make some good extra cash selling them - they are really neat. Steve.
P.S. That fish that your daughter is holding in the bottom picture isn't a catfish is it. It looks like a pike or gar fish.

yeah i thought about selling them but i dont know, the fish my daughter is holding is a bowfin/grinnel/shoe pick/mud fish..they go by many names.

oh and the very bottom pic is a spotted gar..the ones above that are the bowfin.

Fishing?

What great pictures of your fish! Your little girl is a darling...what a cutie pie. I used to fish a lot, but my detecting hobby, er, um, obsession, has taken over all my free time, it seems.

Trudy

Did you catch those in the Wabash? Believe it or not, there are some cats in there that weigh almost 100 lbs.! And that is NOT a fish story! :-)
