I'm a weather watcher by nature and have always been. My wife and I was talking and she made the comment that it seemed that the southern states were experiencing more severe storms now during winter. Another tornado just went through Mississippi over night. Maybe I just don't pay close enough attention but is this year kind of unusual for frequent severe storms in the south or just statice quo. I do know our winter has been a lot warmer than normal and my ice fishing is not gonna happen. Yesterday morning we had almost no snow on the ground. This morning I had to blow six + inches. :cold::snowtruck:

Yea hoser certainly seems it has gotten worse here in kentucky over the last several years especially. now instead of proper winters we get torrential rains and other spring type severe weather weather events except in what should be winter. my driveway has a culvert bridge that crosses a creek and when i first bought the place 12 years ago it would maybe flood the bridge once or twice a year. now over the last 5-6 years i would say its tripled at least in severity and number of flood per year. its Getting so frequent ive considered selling out and leaving.

We've always been under the bullseye for severe thunderstorms and tornadoes in the Spring, but yeah it does seem like severe weather has started creeping in a little earlier than usual.

I'm further south than that but here I am noticing differences for sure. Years ago when I first started water hunting in the gulf in the winter you had to wear a wetsuit and when you got out your fingers would be numb after a few hours. Sometimes the water got so cold it actually stung. It has not been cold like that in at least 5 years, and this winter it's swim suit and sun shirt warm water, just does not get cold like it used to. Also, the weather here is getting hotter sooner than it used to. It's mid 90's and has been for a few weeks and it predicted to be that for the foreseeable future, temps like that used to happen at the end of march onward , this year they came in the beginning of feb,,,

Zeemang my last duty station was Gulfport, and we were there over what would be our winter here and I do remember it was very warm and quite humid. But that is probably the way it's supposed to be in Nov. and Dec. Other than catching the fringe of a hurricane there I can't really remember any super bad storms. Of course, that was back pretty close to the dawn of time. :rofl2: :rofl2:
