Fisher Impulse AQ Limited Launch!

Weight is no issue for me either... I swing a modified Excal and I'm sure it weighs a lot more than a Fisher AQ...

KOB.. I went through 3 coils on the Dual Field... I heard they had a bad batch of epoxy on some of the coils.. my coils didn't wear out they had water intrusion... I had it after that with the DF... I had a PI PRO and killed the gold with it my first 5 years water hunting... wish I never sold it... knew it like the back of my hand.. I also know its on the west coast finding goodies for someone else.. ;)

:cool3::D:cool:

i have hunted with guys who every time I look up are moving so fast they can't possibly find the good stuff on a consistent basis... when find are area with good targets I don't move I will it from N/S then S/N the E/W and finally W/E its been successful for me over the years and nothing could make me happier than seeing someone pack up and go home with the mumbles..

This is not a group hobby... its winner take all.

Well said.

Craig I think you would like the "AQ", it reminds me of the Excalibur in All metal...(None of that chatter like the DF) I get another I will have it sent to you. I don't think it's for everyone but for those that know what they need and want..........it will make a difference. So far I've been hunting a couple spots that were hammered by everyone, including me. Just going in and digging faints only I've collected 7 gold, 6 rings and one earring. Still learning the discriminate mute mod...1 of those rings and the ER were found in that mod...

I'll only be posting about the AQ over on Steve's forum, it takes way to much time dealing with all of the BS like over on Tom's, I'm more in to help those that want to learn and share useful information, this is all new to me but not like I never owned a Pi before...this one is different.

Keep in mind I normally hunt a longer time frame than you , but detector weight probably the same. Ergonomics and balance are key. My 1st DF coil was bad. The 2nd , I sprayed bedliner on it , so far no issues. Had 2 PI pros. The last of which I beat to hell , but it still worked and I sold it. I think those had like a 9.5" coil or about and thin to slice through the water. I also regret selling it. I occasionally see them up for sale , but not in great condition.
Most , but not all areas here you park and then gotta walk a distance to get to your spot. The big beaches you just have to walk them. No use going back to the car multiple times and driving down a quarter mile.

The competition can get fierce around here. I've posted before some of my tricks. Cleaning an area out works but not if I plan on hitting that same stretch the following day. Leaving the "good" junk targets behind is one of my best. To look back and watch someone digging where I just hunted and knowing they are digging trash is epic ! But there is also a subset secret in this as well. Of course this only applies to the "unfriendlies" and those that don't go with my program.

I read all this already at Tom's and Steves forum... I have mastered the art of Lurking

Chatter never bothered me with the DF the coil issue did I heard the whispers and disturbances in the threshold just fine with it.. The TDI beach hunter has a nice smooth threshold I took it to a beach that any VLF would be a wasted hunt.. no iron, compressed thick mud and clay, no rocks to speak of.. found a deep 18k wedding band from the 1860's there a good 17 inches down I measured with my scoop handle then measured it when I got home.. it was a repeatable threshold drop out... no tone at all..

I started with the Headhunter PI then moved on to the PI PRO liked the smaller coil after that the Dual Field... was hoping the Barracuda was going to work but oh well. That beach would be a great testing ground for the AQ... Mark found that USA officers button with the wood backing still in it with his TDI PRO there...

Mark, Brncofan found a pristine PI Pro with a neutral buoyancy coil... he didn't find gold with it but two times I took it out I found 2 gold each hunt... I should have bought it when he offered it for sale still kicking myself in the ass for not pulling the trigger.. I got spoiled by OBN's Excal mods..

Leaving junk behind can go both ways. I’ve amassed a ton of tungsten rings, lead weights and melted foil. I would not seed somebody unless they came into an area I was working to try and run me off or some other vile thing. I can guarantee I would make it good if I did, maybe make some aluminum rings by the hundreds.

Yes , so true. It's usually not the rookies. They just don't know. I will try to go out of my way to help them. It's the more experienced ones that know better. The "vile" few. And a couple of those are local Ringfinders...

I have heard some stories about the “ringfinders” like them keeping more rings than they return. Either way, I darn sure don’t want to be seeded with trash so I won’t do it to others. Like stated though, if push came to shove and for instance I was getting seeded. I have Some sand casting equipment and could produce about a thousand aluminum rings in a few days. Lol

Yeah Steve , I think you pushed me into that. I was well aware of that hookup for years. Just too lazy to do it. Pouch worked fine , but wanted finally try something different. Glad I did.

Whey would anyone go to the trouble of making aluminum rings for a seed ? There are naturally occurring ones out here in abundance. They're called pulltabs.🤣

the sl/pro setup has a mount that the length can be adjusted for the heavier coils.

if the aq ever makes it's way over here I would definitely be making a skinny shaft and toying with the mounting.

Haha, wieght, vdi and pulltabs have a different size signature, not to mention they move easily. We dig them to be hopeful but they can actually be worked around in desperate situations. Thing is most beaches I hunt if I threw a thousand out they would be picked up within days from all the detectorist that hit them and I would be hexing my own beaches. Bottom line, it’s not nice to seed. :D

Bottom line ( as an example) : it's not nice when an instigator (let's say ringfinder) try's to bully and intimidate you off a hot spot on a public beach when you were there 1st. Telling you something to the effect of its "his" beach. He shadows and trails you from 10' away , setting off your detector. To the point where your scoop is a little higher than dragging on the sand. And his excuse might be " I have a client that lost a ring here , it's mine , so you better leave".

Wait until something like this happens to you. And if you have more than 1 run in with this guy. You might just pack up and leave. I won't and I didn't. So you gotta think of other ways to get a laugh....Now back to the AQ topic....

I see your point and agree.

I did find my boxes of pulse parts, if you shoot me a picture of the dial/knob that is leaking on the barracuda. See if I have one and send it to you... heck I found a extra Foster coil and one that I still am not sure what the heck it goes to... Could be the Deepstar...

Mysteriously quiet... Told ya... ;) Send in your resume quick...

The Volume control allowed water to run down the inside of the wire going to the battery killing them... the guy who gave it to me hadn't used it in 2 years and I guess didn't wash it off

My water machines go in the shower with me maybe one day I'll give my Excal a bubble bath :D
