Deus 2

The Nox is in a precarious position imo. If the Deus 2 smokes the Nox and it looks like it will on the beach. Then say, the Legend is equal to the Nox, where does that leave the Nox ?

Whichever way it goes, it will keep getting better for the consumer.

The Equinox may have competition now and be surpassed in some areas like build quality, and beach performance. The rest to be determined as we all learn what these new machines can do.

I doubt I'm going to fill under gunned on land by swinging my 800 by either of these new detectors. I think I do very well with the 800, and have a hard time picturing my finds increasing much with another detector.

I fluctuate day to day on whether I would want to invest in the Deus II. I do have my name on a list though.

That's a real problematic position.

If you don't mind spending $2000US, get the Deus2.
If you don't want to drop that much money but want a rugged, waterproof multifreq, get the Legend.

If the Legend really performs, it looks like the Equinox may be the one that's obsolete after all.

If Nokta Makro can obsolete the Equinox on their first go at SMF the company has been greatly underestimated. Time will tell.

I don't see Minelab resting on it's laurels especially if the competition gets fierce. Who knows they might have something new soon. I keep hoping they will announce a new high end detector to replace the aging Etrac and CTX sooner rather than later.

Where did you come up with the $2000 price for the deus II? It’s retail price is $1599, but the street price will be surprisingly less. Plus XP will be releasing lower priced deus II detector packages with different combinations of just the remote, shaft and coil or just the ws6 headphones, shaft and coil.

I thought I saw a complete system setup with tax and shipping was about $2k.

I agree 100% and feel the same way about my Equinox, but it's out of warranty right now.
What if my Equinox dies and I choose to replace rather than repair?
Do I guy the Deus2 for $2k, the Equinox for $850, or the Legend for $650 (provided the Legend performs as we discussed)?

The Equinox may end up being the medium sized soda at the movie theater that nobody buys.

If you can get a detector with two coils, built better and truly waterproof. Why would someone buy a Nox ? The release of any detector doesn't suddenly make your current detector useless. However, the Nox could find itself as the in between detector.

There needs to be an international law passed, that requires all detecting manufacturers to make coil ears as thick as Nokta.

I'v been kinda holding out for a while on buying anything but have been looking. Build quality on the Nox always kept me from pulling the trigger...I know itsa top shelf machine but junky build quality gets on my nerves. Even Calabash has had issues with them and he loves them. I like what I'm seeing on the Deus ll...and loved the recovery speed on it.

How much less ? Then, what if you want an optional coil and the antenna cable to hunt with the detector submerged ? How much are we talking ?

What if the nox outperforms this detector? As of now no one really knows if the Nokta Legend (I assume this is the detector you’re referring to.) will outperform the nox or vice versa or if they’re about equal in performance.

It's checking all the boxes right now, for sure.

If it's equal and you can get a 2 coil package cheaper than an 800. Again, why would you buy a Nox ?

Ask one of the sponsors here for a price shipped to your door. The antenna cable is included in the package.

Oh. My answer would have been because I'm addicted, and you can never own too many detectors :cool3:
Ha ha! I’ll probably stick with just the new deus and my nox. I’ve got three tesoros, but they don’t get used much. Until a new top dog comes out two main-use detectors are enough for me.

What if N/M the Legend performs better or equal to both the Nox 800 and the Deus II? That would leave both the 800 and the Deus II out of the running for me. The only feature I would be spending all that extra money for on the Deus II would be the much lighter weight and I doubt I could justify that. The cordless coil is not something I really need.

I think weight of machine is a big deal. I expect the legend to be heavier than either the Nox or the D2. Watching videos of the D2 hitting deeper with a 9" coil than the 11" Nox coil. Makes me think a 11" D2 package will be deeper than the Minelab 15" and lighter with more maneuverability.

I had the Vanquish 540 an d Equinox 800. I liked them, but they didn't really surpass the performance I currently enjoy. I use a Tesoro Bandido II microMAX and Silver Sabre microMAX. Also a Nokta FORS CoRe and FORS Relic, Garrett Apex and XP ORX.

I will be getting The Legend to see how it performs and compare with the Equinox. But, based on what I have seen by Gary Blackwell, I definitely will be getting the Deus II.
