I'm moving on from my White's M6 detector and want something better. Over the past several years I've been hearing that the Minelab CTX 3030 is the best on the market and I've wanted it for a while now. Now, newer models are on the market with newer tech and I'm not sure which is right for me. I'm also considering the Manticore and the Deus ii. I'm looking for a do it all detector. I currently live inland and will be searching fields and forests but I plan to move to the low country of South Carolina and will likely spend most of the time along shoreline.
Any recommendations are appreciated.

I think any of the detectors you mentioned would work fine for what you want to do. Good luck!
Just what I was going to say…any of those units will be something to grow with while exhibiting some pretty astonishing capabilities. It is impossible to deny that the CTX is heavier at 5-6 lbs while the D2 is 2 lbs, with the Manticore being around 3 lbs IIRC. Nokta is constantly working on improving the Legend so keep an eye on that too.

D2 is a very good dependable machine. I like the ability to set ranges for the smf and often use 14khz 2 tone for relic hunting. Vast audio controls. So far the 9" coil has plenty of depth.

That D2 lite has everything the controller has from what I see, at half the price..Great deal.. Don't count the Legend out either, hell of a machine

The menu on the Legend is difficult to maneuver & the unit is pretty heavy... I tried the Deus 2 Master, the full Deus 2, a Equinox 700 a Legend this year & settled on the Master. I actually have 2 of them a 9" & a 11" & sold the full.

.. I much prefer the 9" both for weight and performance.. I quit detecting for a few years after cleaning out all my sites with a CTX 3030 with the 6, 11 & 17" coils.. Im so surprised about how much stuff I left behind & have recovered with the Deus 2, mainly with the 9" coil... I pieced together the 11" setup on a Deus 1 shaft & have less than $400 in it. I wrist mounted the WS6 for a while but found myself roughing it up while digging in deeper holes & went to stem mounted.

The Legend weighs "about the same" as the Manticore, 600, 700, 800, 900. The weight difference between those detectors is minimal, yet some talk about it as if it's the difference between swinging an orange and swinging a watermelon. If someone used all those detectors and claimed that one was much lighter or much heavier than the rest, then something else is going on, other than weight.

What do you mean by "difficult to maneuver"? The menu system? If so, the D2's menu system is about the same "difficulty" as the Legend's menu system. The big difference in ease of use when it comes to the menu system, isn't between the D2 and Legend. The difference is the 700 / 900 and the Manticore. Those three detectors have a much more pleasing and "easier" menu system than both the D2 and Legend. Furthermore, regardless of how easy or difficult one perceives the menu system on any detector, they get used to it and navigate it with ease. As such, the menu system becomes a moot point.

The WS6 Master version of Deus 2 is a really good deal but it comes with a big IF. If setting up, controlling and using a controller with a 21mm square or 7/8" by 7/8" screen is clearly visible (no backlight) for the user without some serious magnification then that setup might work. It might also work if the user hunts mostly by ear and doesn't need to: look at the screen for IDs (yes you can enlarge the IDs), make any major adjustments on the fly, use side by side programs to interrogate a targets, look at the screen to determine depth of the target, use the onboard pinpoint function......

I tried just the WS6 setup for about 5 months. I realized I needed more options than just hunting by ear and constantly squinting at a tiny screen.

What these detectors weigh and how well balanced that weight is distributed are two different things. My wrist, arm and shoulder hurt more after swinging a Deus 2 with full remote and an 11" coil (total weight 39.97 ounces) or 13X11" coil (43.49 ounces) than they do after swinging a Manticore with 11" coil (46.24 ounces) or the current Legend model with LG 30 coil (48.3 ounces). Try swinging a WS6 Master configuration with the 13X11" coil on the end of it.

Weight distribution and balance are excellent points. Another factor is the grip angle and grip size. Both of which have an effect on comfort, but both of are subjective.

Now that I think about it, an adjustable grip angle could be a welcome feature.

An adjustable grip angle would be a nice feature. Could alleviate some balance issues.
