My company has also stopped all international travel.

And right here is where most of the problem is. This man's company is doing things right by restricting travel. IMO, no one has done enough. There's protocols that are available to shut down all travel, and none of them are being utilized. Maybe it's a bit extreme on my part, but if no one were allowed to go anywhere, then it wouldn't be getting spread all over the world, would it?

BTW, this whole mess is costing me quite a bit of money. I received a statement from a personal retirement fund, and it lost 6,300 bucks in the last month because of the market(s) diving.

Just my opinion.....Roger

I blame the media 100 percent. Scary people out of their minds. Turn off all media helps me. The Stock market yes it is getting hit but will come back again. It always does. Yes, it a contagious virus but not to freakout. The flu kills thousands each year. Just keep your hands washed and stay away from the sick. I have not had the flu for 10 years. Not going to change my schedule. Will continue to hunt like always!.

CNN is declaring it a pandemic! We're all going to die! Sorry, not buying it. The obvious question that the media is avoiding is how many healthy, under age 60 people have died from this virus?

The vast majority of deaths here in the U.S. have been from a nursing home in Washington state, with 20 deaths in that one location. Since there are currently 27 confirmed deaths in the U.S., that means at the most SEVEN healthy, under age 60 people may have died from it. Sorry, not a pandemic. Just media hype...

I’m not to worried about it myself. I did tell my wife that if everything goes well that there might be loads of vacant houses to detect at lmao. She just glared at me for that one.

”If everything goes well” ... she’s right, you may want to seek help.

The only places I'm likely to be exposed right now are from the postman, delivery drivers, or at church. I am going to try and see if the doctor will renew my prescriptions without a blood test this time because I'm guessing that would be the "best" place to be exposed. So, other than the doctor's office or CostCo (where I pick up the prescriptions), I don't go out in public much since I work from home.

I'm not scared.
I'm in the area in my country were it evolved.
The city were it started my kids sport. We shop. One kid goes to universaty.

It is even comming very close. :scared:
A parent from a kid in the class of my youngest has it. They live about 300 yard from my house.
The neighbours of my middlest kids friend have it.
Still i am not afraid. For us it probably would be no more then the yearly common cold.

I do understand though that older people, weaker people, and people already having serious health problems are scared and for them we have to be carefull.

Good luck everyone.

The CDC defines a pandemic as "an epidemic that has spread over several countries or continents, usually affecting a large number of people." Note that mortality is not part of the definition of pandemic.

As of 2 days ago (data from WHO): 8 new countries/territories/areas (Bulgaria, Costa Rica, Faroe Islands, French Guiana, Maldives, Malta, Martinique, and Republic of Moldova) have reported cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Over 100 countries have now reported laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID- 19.

Data from WHO, as of 24 hours ago:
Globally
105 586 confirmed (3656 new)
China
80 859 confirmed (46 new) 3100 deaths (27 new)
Outside of China
24 727 confirmed (3610 new) 484 deaths (71 new)

101 Countries/territories/ areas (8 new)

I think, given the data, it is indeed a pandemic, even though CDC and WHO are not willing to call it one at this time, probably because they are trying to avoid hysteria.

Whereabouts are you located? My city has been on lock down for weeks and weeks and weeks. 30 infected. Couple hours away over 10,000 infected. Problem with a new virus is your body doesn't know how to fight it... while your blood cells are trying to figure it out you are infectious. Spreading it without knowing.
If your city has cases and you aren't locked down .... then pending a miracle.. expect many many many more cases in the coming weeks and months.
We've been on lockdown for 8 weeks or so. Lockdown. As in not allowed out of the building

Netherlands. Priminister said to have no intentions to lock down.
Advices to work from home. To stay home if you cough or have other signs.
To stay away from big events.
They are doing research in my area how it spreads, as no direct links at risk erea's are to be found at a part of the infected people.
Health institutions have much more and stricter 'rules' to follow.
Sick and corona people must stay at home for two weeks.

Still, it will probably evolve as the yearly common cold, to be expected a majority of all people will become a mild cold. With much bigger risk for elderly, weak people and with health problems.
Serious enough to handle to protect the risk cases, but not that serious for total panic.

Sorry for your situation. I sympathize with you. Meanwhile hoping such kind off panic will stay away overhere.

General Hobby discussion....hmmmm, don't see it,

For those in corona erea's it is hobby related as it is relevant and can be a delemma.
If your not in corona erea? Be happy about your luck and that you don't see it. Hope it stay's that way for you.

I live in the most effected province in my country, nearby the most infected city in my country (which we also 'live' in often. School, work, shopping).

The first infected in my country was ONLY 10 days ago.
Now 10 days later at least about 400 proven cases and 5 death, and still counting.
Of which at least 2 infected in my personal acquaintance circle, and some unconfirmed possible ones on the waiting list.
That's how quick it can go. That's how relevant it can be. Don't be afraid, but be aware!

It is highly relevant all over europe (and beyond). Perhaps not (yet) that relevant in the US but we can inform you, what can help you.
This virus doesn't know borders.

Crazy times

The Corona virus has been affecting me for years. Every time I’m beach hunting I keep finding those darn Corona Caps!
All joking aside, keep a dispenser of antibacterial hand soap with you and for God's sake leave your hands off your face and out of your nose! Good luck!

You will be lucky if you can find a container of hand sanitizer on the store shelfs ,so I imagine the antibacterial soap will be gone next, along with toilet paper , bottled water , baby wipes , etc . Just ordered diapers for the grand daughter at Costco they were limiting 2 boxes per family and had 0 baby wipes in stock to sale .

For people who can't (or don't want to) avoid public places this link I just got in an email might be of some help:

Avoid coronavirus: 9 practical tips to limit your risk without cutting yourself off from the world

https://www.cnet.com/how-to/dont-catch-coronavirus-9-practical-tips-to-limit-your-risk-without-cutting-yourself-off-from-the-world/

(those tips could be good even if it wasn't for the Coronavirus, just to help avoid getting a regular cold or the flu, I think I heard that even cold or flu germs can usually survive on a door handle for at least hours and the article said under some circumstances the coronavirus could survive up to 9 days, some tips are just common sense things we might not normally think of)

Just saw the US counts on the news. Excusses as i didn't no it was that far already overthere.

In the U.S., at least 34 states plus the District of Columbia have reported confirmed cases of COVID-19, tallying over 400 illnesses and at least 19 deaths.

Compare them with those from my country.
Mind that the US has about 20 times more inhabitants then my country.

Again, don't be afraid, but take it serious. Do what is adviced to do!
