Convince me?

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I keep coming back to bang for your buck. I have watched lots of videos on the Simplex and the Vanquish. A lot of them talk about how much value your getting with the Simplex. I can save some money and then buy a decent pinpointer.

Hey everyone

I have decided to get a metal detector come spring. I have pretty much convinced myself to get a Nokta Makro Simplex+. I mostly will be hunting in parks and forests. I am quite new to detecting, I did have a Tesoro Compadre at one point.

So either agree with my detector choice or convince me to get another model. Looking forward to hearing your opinions. I should also mention my budget is around $500 Canadian.

I have to agree with others that replied with the Simplex Plus and if you can find the package that comes with the free 9.5 x 5 inch coil that package is i believe $339.15 or maybe a little less I purchased one of the simplex plus in the package i mentioned for my grandson and was so impressed with it that I ended up purchasing a second one in the same package for my self it is well with in your budget and is the best bang for you buck in today's current price point
The Simplex Plus is touted as a beginners detector but do not let that fool you it is a very very capable detector it has five modes that it can be ran in auto ground balance and manual, a built in flash light, vibration in handle for hearing impaired, and it is totally water proof as I stated it is the best bang for your buck the price I stated was the cost and included free shipping and no tax so that was the shipped price I have been detecting since 2009 or early 2010 and wish when I started they would have had a Simplex plus

one thing I forgot to mention is the package i stated also comes with wireless headphones and everything is rechargeable batteries so you do not have to carry around extra batteries with you even the Simplex plus itself has a onboard rechargeable battery in it

Thanks for all the replies. It looks like Simplex+ it is. I am surprised nobody has tried to tell me to get a Vanquish, or a Garett or something else. But that just goes to show that the Simplex must be tops in this budget amount.
Because no one tried to sell you on a Garrett, I'll fill the void. At the risk of being deluged with negative feedback, I'll recommend that you Get a Garrett AT Pro. You can get one for just under $500. :mder:

The Simplex makes noises like a goose call. Get past that and it is a wonderful machine. You certainly will enjoy it more with the SP24.

I have had the Simplex, the Vanquish 540 and an Equinox 600. The Simplex lives up to its name, simpler to use.

That's because the AT Pro is way over priced and old news, and the Simplex Plus is deeper and a way better detector then the AT Pro will ever be, I still have an ATP and was never impressed with it from day one, I called my ATP the 6 inch wonder I have owned the ATP since 2010 which is when the ATP came out to market it was over hyped then and is still over hyped today, and I never could understand the hype and still do not as you can tell I call a spade a spade

Simplex Plus with wireless headphones $256.99 and if you do a internet search you can still find the package with the free 9.5x5 inch coil for $339.15 i believe
AT PRO $499.

so you tell me

You took the bait........

Based on everything I have heard and seen, the Simplex appears to be a fine machine for the price range. I have never seen or touched or used one, but I bought one for my brother for Christmas based on the reviews I saw online from XP Deus users (I'm an XP Deus user and follow a lot on YouTube) that were reviewing it and using it (Paystreak Superfreak and Calabash Digger on YouTube to name two I know of). I figure if a Deus user is happy with the Simplex, it's definitely got some good qualities about it. I'd say you made a fine choice for your first detector.

Also, it is great to have the same vdi numbers.

the vanquish does seem to be a good detector from what i have read about it and I almost purchased one for my grandson what swayed my decision to the simplex plus was because of the Vanquish not being water proof and the simplex plus is

I am not even sure if the Vanquish is rain proof since Mine Lab supplies a rain cover for it

Ok, it’s settled, I am going with the Simplex+.

Now the next thing I need you to convince me on is a pinpointer. I am thinking the Nokta pointer. I don’t want to spend a lot because I am already maxing my budget on the detector. The Garrett carrot is 160 cdn plus tax. That’s a little much. What do you all suggest?

I was going to suggest the Garrett, but you shut that down, so let me just say don't get a no name cheap knock off, get something you can count on.

I am not shutting the Garrett down, it’s just an expensive option.

Agreed.
Way more bang for the buck options out there now other than Garrett.

I had a Simplex+ with wireless headphones. and for the price it's performance blew me away.
I only sold it because it was so similar to my Nokta Impact, and as a 2nd detector I wanted completely different features to add to my "tool box".

I used to use Garrett pin pointers but started using the Fisher F-Pulse and love them.

Pinpointer? Detech sells their X-Pointer most sellers for $89 US. It is a very reliable pinpointer. Just don't buy a junk pointer!

I don't know why they even make PP's that aren't 100% waterproof these days. Even if you never planned to water hunt, it would make it a breeze to clean without worry of water damage.
