Calabash is back!

I broke down and went against my better judgment and watched one of his videos this morning, for about 3 minutes, and saw him telling them to remove the comments of a viewer. The viewer dared to tell him he was wrong and got removed. What a piece of work. I won't be making that mistake again.

Us older guy's better get going times ticking . :D sube

Calabash is a youtube person with 18.8 thousand subscribers. He apparently feels his style of comparing detectors works for him. But take Aquachigger who also is a youtube person with 1.4 million subscribers. I have never heard or viewed Aquachigger use anything but a polite and respectful manner in describing anything on his channel. For a long time chig was a Garrett spokesman, but don't recall him bashing any of the Garrett competition.

I find some members on Friendly that have rubbed me the wrong way in the past concerning my posts. I have learned not to reply to get back at them. And over time we are all still best buds on this forum because of our common enjoyment and passion for our hobby.
I might add in full disclosure that I like Calabash and have has some serious private conversations with him. I have been both a Garrett user and Minelab user and now XP Deus 2 user. I have been pretty vocal about when will Garrett compete with the current round of $1600 SMF detectors. It seems like they could come up with a new detector that could compete like there great AT Pro did in it's heyday. But I am a layman and don't have a clue what it takes to create and 800 or XP Deus 2. I think we all want Garrett to hit one out of the ballpark for the home team. Until then a lot of us will be using the leading detectors from other countries.

Full disclosure I don't care what cabbage says okay just my opinion anybody that goes on and on about a detector making a noise on a target between 2 nails like it was magic give me a break . Also colonial nails and the gold coin or half reale thing he always uses . I told him I never seen a colonial fairgrounds yet. Then I said I have nails pull-tabs can slaw and every fastener know to man not just a place with iron he said boy you have some tuff ground did not have a clue to answer any ? I asked but he's the pro lol .
Here's one for anyone do a video of all these great finds you found digging a pull-tab signal with iron in a park or fairgrounds I will be the first to watch it .
As to Garrett I hunted 54 years never ran a Garrett WHY because there was always something better to use as to the great AT Pro I was using a minelab smf detector long before the Pro came out . Garrett will be still making smf detectors when everybody else has moved on to new tech .
Going back in time all I seen was compass whites technetics and fishers used before minelab did not see any Garrett's of course only my lame opinion .
Will be waiting for Garrett to knock one out of the park . sube

lol sadly the word professional/pro has been overused just as extreme did over the years ...there's some things you just can't be pro at and metal detecting is one of them

The word I notice overused on tv is "amazing". No .....your wife/husband/kid is probably not amazing even though that's how you describe them on the game show introduction. And that weather photo is not amazing either, Mr. weatherman. That $19.95 knife you are trying to sell me is far from amazing. "But wait....there's more!". I could go on and on....

I remember Calabash when he first started metal detecting with his At pro and came on here as a member, I believe that was 2016..My test bed has more time in this hobbie than he does..Although we all have our opinions mine come from in field experience,Calabashs come from test bed experience on almost every machine he dislikes.. I'm not much for synthetic tests

“A tantrum, temper tantrum, lash out, meltdown, fit, or hissy fit is an emotional outburst, usually associated with those in emotional distress. It is typically characterized by stubbornness, crying, screaming, violence, defiance, angry ranting, a resistance to attempts at pacification, and, in some cases, hitting and other physically violent behavior. Physical control may be lost; the person may be unable to remain still; and even if the "goal" of the person is met, they may not be calmed.”

Aren't these the signs , symptoms of being a 5 yr old child ? Or the diagnosis of a deranged lunatic ?

If you never used one, your opinion on Garrett is irrelevant. It would be like me giving my opinion on a Deus 2. I know I always do better than 95% of the Deus and Minelab guys at metal detecting events, but that may be due to my skill level and not the poor performance of their machines.

Always good to have an open mind when it comes to metal detecting. I always thought that pinpointers were a ripoff and not necessary. But since I started using one many years ago, I'm lost without it. Takes me forever to find an object in the hole if I forget my pinpointer at home. Just my take on your comment...

I owned many Garrets through the years because the only local dealer was a Garrett dealer. I can't think of a one I didn't like. I had the American series, Master Hunter through the ADS 7, and the Freedom series including the original Freedom, and AT series. As I said before, they were never known for their depth. A very conservative detector. You could tweak it and make it hot and unstable, but I always did fine with it being nice quiet, and stable.

Not a real ergonomic detector, but built like a tank. Simple to operate for beginners and could hold its own in the field. I have no doubt the Vortex will hold to the Garrett standards.

I don't know him or have anything against him but I won't watch any of his videos or read any of his posts. Along time ago he made a video on a Tesoro Tejon showing that it wouldn't hit on a quarter, he either had a defective detector or set it up to make it look bad, either way I didn't like how he bashed Tesoro and I know better because I have owned and used every model of Tesoro and never had that issue. In a nutshell he just gets under my skin.

And that is CD's MO. He videos stuff you know is not accurate and if you comment he will change your words or just have the comment removed. Worst is he is free to mislead those new to detecting.

Yes, you have a lot to learn. I referenced metal detecting events because I was competing with over 100 other diggers. I've always finished in the top 5% in every event I've attended. Some skill involved, but a lot of credit goes to my AT Pro.
