The thing I zoomed in on below from your picture is a tab commonly used on Model T and similar cars. Also used on luggage and other things too, but I always think of them as Model T attachment points. See the rolled up window on the back of the other photo? Those inserted into grommets and turned, securing it closed. You will probably come across the grommets at some point too (they are ovular).
I see nail clippers in there too....

The yellow one is a Tootsietoy Roadster. Iggy is correct, the single seat Jaguar is a tootsie too!
