atlanta has been and is growing very fast. a study several years ago predicted based on current growth rates will be one of the largest cities in the US. Why? it has no natural boundaries like older US cities. Most older cities are on the coast so they can only grow in 3 directions. They...

    help in identifying this item

Was hunting in an area where a major civil war battle occurred. This area has produced many cw bullets. It is in an urban area where the park has been a park from about 1940 and before that just empty fields and creek beds. So there is hardly any modern trash to be found except your usual ring...

hunting creeks for civil war relics

any advice for hunting civil war relics in this type of creek in urban Atlanta? these creeks have high banks about 12 feet or better. civil war relics question

I am new to hunting civil war relics but have been using metal detectors in one form or another since 1988. Mostly I hunt parks and old home sites and the beach 2-3 times per year. In a proven civil war battle area (not in any national parks but adjacent private or public property) how long do...

Equinox 800 civil war 3 ringer bullets target ID's and tones

I am using the field 2 setting and my civil war bullets ring up 16-18. Unfortunately ring pulls and square tabs seem to love the 16 Target ID. I put down three civil war three ringers of 3 different caliber on a clear patch of ground. I then put in another clear patch some of my pull and square...

hunting civil war bullets - which AT pro coil to use

I am hunting a civil war site with little trash. I have three coils, 5x8, AT Pro stock and a NEL Thunder 14.5" x 10.5". I read somewhere that the NEL is not so good for small targets. I wonder if a civil bullet is consider a small target by those who made that statement. so anyone have...

I finally found my first actual skirmish site. After much research and leg work I now know some of those historical marker signs aren't as precise as you might think. Ok, so I've been digging quite a few Confederate relics as of late so in my latest video I decided to give a little insight regarding the location where I'm making my finds. New here from the Shenandoah Valley. Iron problems.

I don't use a lot of forums so I'm not even sure what's the most effective way or place to ask a question. Probably either here or in relic/coin hunting section. Basically I'm pretty new to the hobby but have been busting my rear for about a month. On average a few hours everyday. Put in 7...
