Twas a beautiful day today here in the Bitterroot Valley, and even though temps in the evenings have been in the teens, the days have been getting up to the 50s, so I hoped for a few unfrozen yards that had south facing front yards. Headed north to my favorite detecting city, and decided to try a section of block that had nice large front yards with full sun exposure. No curb strips in this particular neighborhood. Sure enough, the yards were soft and detectable! I did manage to get permission at 6 yards, as I had from about 12.30 to 5 pm to detect. The first home was built in 1946, I found a few wheat cents, and my last signal was a nice 90-91 on the AT Pro... Silver Quarter! I worked my way up the block on the sunny side of the street, most people were home and friendly, all that I spoke to gave me the OK and a hearty good luck. The next several yards produced clad, a couple of Jefferson Nickels, and more wheat cents. The last yard turned out to be the best, a nice family with some good mannered children, who I gave some wheat cents and copper Memorial cents to. They had to head out and I had the last half of the front yard to check, turned out another Silver GW Quarter 1944, and a Merc Dime, along with a few wheat cents. The other good find from this last yard was a metal "Saddle" shaped ring. Not precious and probably from an old gumball machine. These homes all dated from the late 1940s-mid 1950s. Anyway, I was happy to have a chance to detect my home area, thank you for your interest!
