A woman contacted me to help find her husbands lost wedding ring. They believed it was lost while planting the garden. I’ve never found a gold ring before but I know my small woman’s size 18k white gold ring has a vdi of about 46 on my AT Max. The garden was extremely noisy, I’m assuming from very mineralized soil. First target I hit was a 62. I marked the spot but didn’t dig because I figured it was a bottle cap. 62 has only ever brought up junk for me. I dug a few more targets that were closer to the 46 my ring registers as. All tinfoil. The husband decided to dig my first marked spot. It was the ring. Successful hunt? Yes, but I wish I knew enough to have dug that first target right away. I’m very happy I was able to help them but I feel like the husband found it, even though I marked the spot. Oh well. BONUS: they have a huge foundation from an old cider mill on their property. Told me I could check it out anytime. I tried for a few minutes but the poison ivy is insane. Also, there is A LOT of old rusty metal lying around, like barrel rings and such. Almost everywhere. Not quite sure how to navigate that. Any AT Max users have any tips?
