Shooting at the park while detecting

WOW! Jeez I guess I’m not the only one that has close by parks too sketchy to detect at alone. What’s happening to our country? There was a time when my friends and I would spend full days’ exploring and playing at those parks with no supervision. Now I don’t even walk the dog without pepper spray in many places.

I realize ... Thank god we may not carry guns overhere.
Thank god the treaths i can confront are not flying around bullets that quick, and most treaths i can confront can be held off with some good self defense techniques.

Why i hunt everywere i want, and never confronted a serious thread. Thread yes, but never serious.

Even hunt were there are gangs. Looking (trying to look tough) at me what i'm doing. Or asking what i'm doing. Whatever, never bothered me. I can also look and act tough. :cool3: Most gangs overhere are kitties compared with yours.

Although in my country do exist a minor few far away neighbourhoods were i would not run to go to. But that's no more then 4 or some, and not relevant to me.
But in general i live in my country and i take my right to go were i want. Try to stop me. :D

WTH!

Keep thinking positively. Think oppertunity.
Bullets to be found. Shells. Gun? Perhaps some money fallen out his pocket while running. Golden "big man" neckless with gold bar pendant with diamonds inlay?

You may live in a civilized society, I don't. I live in an area with almost daily shootings. I don't think I've made it a month without a drive by shooting within a block of my home. A 6 year old girl was kidnapped raped and murdered just down the street. The big deal now is stealing catalytic converters. Dozens are stolen every night. Even the Sheriff recommends taking a gun safety course and arming yourself. It may be safe in your neighborhood to be without a gun, but in my hood it's not safe. Just last month a neighbor shot 2 men breaking into his home. They were armed, he got lucky getting off the first shots. Who knows what could have happened in the 10 minutes it takes the police to arrive. I've come close a couple of times to having to shoot meth-head zombies trying to get in the house. I don't want to but if I have to take the law into my own hands I will. No one else will do it for me. I am responsible for my own safety.

You are right! You can defend yourself against the lawless. NOTHING wrong with that.

dangerous places

I do agree that some places are pretty dangerous. Ever watch "The First 48"? People getting murdered for a cell phone, a bicycle or a lousy 20 bucks. Unreal that someone would end a life for money or material goods. Then they get 45 years in jail for the crime. How can you live with that? You took a life for nothing and wasted your life all at the same time. So incredibly stupid...

Those are every day events in ST. Louis Missouri people even get shot for looking at someone the wrong way , they say they were disrespecting them. The murder rate would be much higher if they were better shots ,the shooting rate is much, much higher than the murder rate. I think there were around 12 kids killed last year mostly in the wrong place at the wrong time. Some killed in drive by shootings , or sitting on their own porches, others hit in cross fire between 2 groups. St. Louis is becoming a 3RD world country, actually I would feel safer in some 3rd world countries. Not uncommon to hear about rolling gun battles on the streets and highways there. Lots of vacant and boarded up and falling down buildings there as well as trash all over . They keep predicting a large earth quake will hit there sooner or later(way over due) it sits on a fault line and has many 100 year old water and gas lines , would level much of ST. Louis and give it a chance to be rebuilt .

Unless the cops think you did something wrong. Don't bet your freedom on your "right" to defend yourself. It might bite you in the rear.

Wow, never knew it was that bad in Missouri. But at least you can be proud of KC born Samantha Fish. One of my favorite blues guitarists and a star in the making. I met her after her concert in MA a couple of months ago. Incredibly talented and so nice to her fans.

Missouri made the list 3 times. Kansas City, Springfield and St. Louis. St. Louis being the #1 most dangerous city in the country. GO CARDINALS!!!!

Not to forget what happened in Ferguson, Mo. in 2014.

When I MD at my local beach it is 5-6 am it is pretty safe then. Mostly seagulls around me, lol. I do NOT MD evenings as that's when the riff-raff come out. If they are still there by morning, they are usually spread out on a bench, drunk and passed out.

The police are required to carry firearms. I can't remember the last time we had a shooting here in my town, if ever. What the police do or don't do has nothing to do with you.

Bottom line, you're not the law and should never think about taking the law into your own hands. Think there's a problem? Either call the cops or get the heck out of the area. This isn't the Old West. Those days are long gone. We live in a civilized society now.

Your is an interesting viewpoint. So ready to become a victim at the hands of a criminal. Hope no one has to suffer for your failure to defend against armed criminals looking to do bodily harm.
Police are armed because they deal with the general population, which is not civil by any means. You and I have to deal with the same general population. I will defend myself, like the police do. You choose to be a victim as is your right to do so. Best of luck.

I found a couple of dropped 9mm rounds detecting a small park about a mile from my house last summer. My neighborhood is nice & quiet but the Hood is not far away.

It's because of this type of thing that the Parks & Rec Dept. has decided to post "no trespassing after dark" signs at all of the city parks here - no night hunts anymore. :(

I love and do quite well at the "Ghetto parks" around me here in CT especially Hartford...Only stray dogs scare me.. Head phones are never worn.

Hopefully, the mods will lock this now political post, so I don't have to keep replying to this nonsense. Walking around with a gun strapped to you hip guarantees jack squat. Most assaults are committed from behind. You will never see it coming, so your pea shooter won't help you. Then the criminal will have YOUR gun to sell or give to another criminal. Are we about done here?

Ferguson andthe black lives mater were a bad joke

The guy the police shot was a low life criminal looser and the people made him out to he some kind of hero. the rioting and looting that followed was crazy the poor people burned down and destroyed the only stores that catered to them.

You can get on your high horse and ride off whenever you want.
Some people don't consider protection to be "nonsense" some consider it a protected right, way up there in the top ten.

Sorry, I don't need a gun to "protect" myself or my family. If it gives you courage, so be it. But as I stated before, this isn't the Old West. Those days are long gone. Gun laws are going to become stricter and stricter. We need to weed out all the unstable people who currently own them.

it's too bad your state makes it so tough to carry concealed.what is worse is adjoining states have to pay $100.00 "every year" to carry in mass. this is an effort to dissuade properly licensed people from carrying concealed in mass.
it works!
