I'm leaving on Thursday for the UK and will be joining a couple organized digs in England. It's my first time there, and I'm psyched. I've read up on the laws surrounding what qualifies as treasure, what must be declared to the Finds Liaison Officer, etc.

One thing I'm not clear about though: if I want to bring any finds (which are not treasure) back to the U.S., do they have to be declared at customs? Does anyone have experience with this, and did you run into any issues? Thanks.

Thanks for the links. I didn't see anything in either one about Customs specifically, but I'll ask the locals if I find anything valuable. I would hate to think I was following all the rules only to have something taken at the airport.
Yes you do need customs forms but that aspect should be arranged by the organiser? From previous experience of another forum member who used to come to the UK for organised digs.
