Holy cow its been a long time since I've posted on here......
Not sure if its more because I haven't really been getting out as much , or if the change in this site was such a shock to me .....probably more because I just really haven't found anything too exciting......seems like around here its just Rosies , Mercs and Barbers ....we need some new precious metal coins to pop up......
anyway......
I ended up doing a bunch of lake hunts the last couple weeks. There were a couple spots around our lake that I had a strong feeling there should be some old coins in.......I ended up snaggin over 20 silver coins from the water over the last few weeks......
The last water hunt was on a 28 degree afternoon and I toughed it out for about 45 minutes til I snagged good looking /and sounding piece of yellow......I was so so excited ...this thing really looks old and has an 1800s looking monogram on it but cant find any markings in it....
after taking a hundred close up shots I realize it appears to have some gold flake peeling off , so that was a huge bummer.......
about two days later I got onto a corn stubble field where the old maps showed a couple 1800s homes used to be......
First an indian, then another , then a wheat .....then a clean sweet shallow 12-44 thought I might have a barber or seated dime .....I dug a shallow hole and there it was at 3 inches a brassy looking round smooth ring.....I popped the dirt from the middle and it sure looked like a ring, but the color was a bit dull....it was getting a bit dark at this point too tho......
anyway , it does have a mark in it and im not 100 percent convinced but pretty sure its real.
If anyone has info on the makers mark let me know. I did a few quick searches and was not able to find it.

HOLY MOLY! you had a couple of awesome hunts for sure. That ring from the corn field does look like an 18 k. Congrats on all the sweet finds.

I'm gonna say that's an 18k ticket..outstanding!!!
Barbers, Indians, 20 silvers...that's as much as I've found in my entire time in the hobby. And braving the cold to get it done...champion!

Ok finds buddy keep it up he who stays in the house finds fiddler swuat but him who goes out finds nothing has his day eventually I told myself this so many times walking back to car with bottom lip out lol

Nice finds. Too bad about the ring, an old fake I guess. In your last photo, looks like gold plating peeling off of copper or brass base metal.

You have some nice loot, how did you clean those coins so well?
Congrats on the old 18k and the other ring with a D on it!đź‘Ť
