Well yesterday, started out extremely slow that I bounced around to a few locations. I returned to an old park that I had not been to for a very long time. I was finding the usual clad and then I found what I first thought was a necklace jewelry piece, but could see the 2 cents on it. Overall, it is in decent condition other than that hole in two.

When I got home, I cleaned it up and discovered it was an 1864 Two Cent coin. After researching it, it appears to being the most common type for that year. There are like six varieties for that year.

I am glad to finally become a member of the 2 cent club.

Other than the hole, the Two Cent Piece is in better condition than the clad.
The one you have is the Large Letter variety.
I dug an 1864 two center some years ago and just like yours it had a hole in it in basically the same position as the hole in yours.

I like finding coins with holes. Just means somebody else really liked it too.

Thank you!

Very nice. One of my favorite coins.

Thanks partyofane! I never though I find one of these. It is a first for me for sure.

Thanks Detector! Even with the hole in it, I am sure glad to find it.

I have never seen one, really need find,

all my 2¢ don't count I guess

Thanks Tinhorn3! This is my first and only 2 cent'er. Incidentally, your two cents matter most especially with checking it out.

Thanks diggin4clad! It looked to me as the large letter variety too. And I think it is the common brown metal composition one too. Surprising most of the true one cent large coins I find are shot but this 2 cent'er held up nicely.

jak thats a very clean coin. good soil . the hole is no issue, just shows someone was wearing it. thier 2 cent worth.

Thanks dixiedigger57! The coin cleaned up real nice. It was found it the wooded section off of a field. I was hoping to find some more good stuff, but not this time.

I like it!

Thanks metaladdict! Even with the hole, I like it too.

Thanks grf1868! Good point you make about the hole. It seems, sometimes, in the odd of places, I find the oddest of coins.

ATTABOY John. When you score you do it with style. Congrats, top of my list is a seated, course we know you've got that covered and right behind a seated for me is a two cent piece. Great save and good luck, Mark

Thank you!

Nice find.
Congrats.

Thanks tnsharpshooter! Thank goodness, once in a while I get lucky.

That's awesome, congrats! It has some nice character with being holed.

Thanks Jamflicker! Heck, now that it is pre-holed, I might wear it. lol.

Thanks Mark! It feels good to find one of these oddities. But, I have never found and would like too, is a trime. Also, I am starving for when I will find my next silver coin. HH and continued success!

That is one super nice coin , Congrats !!

Thanks Almann! Much appreciated you stopping by and the kind words for my hole in 2. lol

Dang, man. With all the clad you find, you should maybe leave the really rare 1800s stuff for someone else...Not! Better you than "first time Freddy" or "clueless Clark" stumbling along and digging it by pure luck.
Very nice! I would love to dig a big old 2 cent-er someday.

Thanks Foragist! I enjoyed your great reply too! :) As for the 2 cent-er, I thought I would never find one. I think location has much to do with it. Where I been finding these oddities, is like the off beat area of these over worked areas. As for the clad, which I mainly go for, it still been running good too, the hard part is finding some new locations within a reasonable travel distance.

Thanks goldendreams! Wow, your 2 cent=er looks great too. And congrats to you also! I think the metal composition process and how they were made has a lot to do with how well they stand the test of time. Thanks again for dropping by and sharing your story.

Congrats. And solid thread name.

Thanks DiggingThePNW! This probably will be the only "two cents" that really matters to us diggers. lol I appreciate that you took the time to read the thread.

Nice find, congrats! I found a '65 last week.

Thanks garinerdigger! From all these reply comments it seems these 2 cent-ers are kind of common. But what I think separates mine from the rest, is that one of a kind hole in it. lol
