Where I live there is not a lot of pre-Civil War coins. I have not found a bucket lister in like 4 years. Always the same old same old coins pretty much. only 3 Seated dimes in 7 years. Any late 1800's coin is a good day here. Even early 1900's Barber's and IHPs are real nice find in N.E. Arkansas. A couple of buddies and I started hunting a new spot. I think it's pretty old. I am still researching to find out when it was first inhabited and farmed. I was having a pretty dismal last couple of days. A lot of brass and copper stuff relic type stuff but few coins. I had only found one IHP so far. But about 5 hours in today I got what I thought was going to be an Indian Head cent. Solid 59-60 on the Manticore. I dug a plug and started going through it with the pinpointer. I kept hearing it but had a hard time finding it. When I finally saw it I thought oh wow it can't be what I think it is. I called my buddy over and showed him it lying there. I said if that is play money I am going to be sick. I picked it up and could barely belive I'd dug my first Seated half dime. It was a 1857 to boot! I ended up finding a nice flat button only a few yards from the half dime. My buddy found the Eagle cuff button not far from there also. Hopfully there will be more good stuff there.
