FRUSTRATED with Minelab

That is serious speculation there. You have no idea of there employment practices or pay.

I was giving them the benefit of a doubt. If it isn't low wages or them hiring enough help, then they're just incompetent. Just my point of view.

It’s not a right to be paid more. It is up to an individual to work hard and show there worth. We live in a country where there is ample opportunity to make something of yourself. But in this climate of everyone is a winner and we all deserve a good paying job is actually giving our younger people a very weak and false narrative. I think if your stuck in a dead end job and make a crappy wage well then maybe get a second job or apply elsewhere. Minimum wage is a minimum for a reason. Most people have terrible work ethic and don’t really want to improve or there just entering said job at the entry level.

Spoken like a typical businessman who pays their workers dirt wages and then tries to justify it. Sorry, if you can't find help at minimum wage, you'll have to pay more than that to hire enough workers.

When Amazon and Target are paying $15 an hour, why would anyone work for minimum wage at someone's sweat shop? They won't and who can blame them?

I don’t own a business I am just an employee that started close to minimum wage and now makes 33 per hr. We have no shortage of people that apply. And people in production start at minimum wage and go up over time. I have owned a recording studio though in the past and had two employees then. I just have worked hard to prove myself and if an employer wasn’t willing to pay more I would look for other opportunities while employed. I have been fortunate in the past to buy property and then sell for a profit. But never made more than I do now hourly wise.

And people who keep screaming about higher wages will willingly go work for Walmart and other stores for nothing. When you scan your products and do your own checkout you are working for nothing. Dang i wish i could have found employees who were willing to work for nothing. But every person i hired to do a job required that they be paid.

Glad you mentioned Walmart George

My wife and I rarely get to a Walmart as there is none close by and it would be very rare for us to make a special trip just to go to Walmart, so we had not been to one in some time, but recently we stopped by one on the way home from having routine car maintenance done at a dealership and when we went to check out there we NO cashiers available to check us out !

The ONE lane they had with a cashier had closed due to a glass breakage in the lane that needed cleaned up, we were told we could use the self checkout section but my wife and I refuse to use self checkout when we have a cartload full of groceries (if it was 2 or 3 items no big deal, but not a cartload full !)

Anyhow after speaking to customer service and managers we finally got them to have a cashier check us out, took us about 20 to 30 minutes longer to check out then it should have. After that episode, it might be a lot more rare for us to go back to a Walmart and if we do I might call first to see if any cashiers are working

EDIT TO ADD: I wonder if this is a new trend, because the previous very occasional times we've been to Walmart if I remember correctly there would usually at least be somewhere about 3 or so cashier lanes open. (at our local grocery store a worker told me they heard Walmart was wanting to go to more self checkout)

EDIT TO ADD2: What George said about customers who scan their own groceries at checkout are working for free gave me an idea...... Walmart should program the self checkout scanners to automatically deduct about 15% off your total in consideration of you doing THEIR job for them

Further more do you know even what minelab is paying?

Not enough, apparently. Or, management is doing a bad job of matching their workforce to demand.

Either way, Minelab is dropping the ball here.

customer service is not what it used to be, and even then it wasn’t really good. Smaller outfits have better service, mostly because they have no choice if they want to grow, you can always tell when the tipping point has arrived, as customer service starts to decline.

let us know if they respond

You bet I will. I've been keeping an eye on it. Knock on wood, I haven't had any problems with my E-Trac other than their craptastic Koss headphones which I never used again. I want to sell my AT Max and upgrade my back up. I briefly entertained the idea of the 800, but that ain't happening.

You hearing this Minelab?

Had to send my Fisher F4 back in some years ago had pretty good service from them , they were lacking on the updating on progress of the repair but go it it back in about 2 weeks . Had a defective circuit board and a defective coil and was new. Haven't had to send it back since , so don't know what their service is like now . Machine is sturdy never had another issue with it. If any one has had recent experience who be glad to hear how it went. Instead of upgrading to a newer machine i bought a additional coil for mine.

I had one issue two years ago with my Equinox. Minelab customer service was great at the time, and very fast. Zero issues since, and it has seen some serious use. Most weeks it's used multiple times. Seldom a week it's not turned on and used. I just traded for another 800 I like them so much. I sure would not hesitate buying another one if mine were stolen or something.

You'd barely survive on that wage here in RI. You'd probably clear $900 a week here. By the time you're done with rent, electric and oil bills, you'd be giving up half of that every week. Want cable, internet and a landline phone? Take away another $50 a week. Now you're down to $400 clear a week. Health insurance will take another $150 a week, so now you've got $250 clear a week. Car insurance and gas will suck another $80 a week, so now you've got $170 a week to buy food, clothing and miscellaneous stuff. Forget about having a cell phone with that much to play with a week. Bottom line, $33 an hour sounds good, but it really isn't any more.

I'm sorry, but this thread might have gotten out of hand. Hey, I know what to do, lets get ourselves a good, wholesome meme to cool down.

Sounds more like a Rhodes island economic problem than a employer wage problem. . Your state is robbing people, not the employers,or everyone is living above they’re means..Lots of people in Those situations work two jobs, or blame society for not living like a rock star.

I could go on and on. Still not a right for minimum wage to be higher. People need to try to improve and better themselves not be complicit with a minimum it’s an entry level income period. 33 is fine I save, and own a few properties. Guess what I worked hard for that and never cried foul just worked harder. Your point that they don’t pay enough or whatever is baseless as you have no idea there business practices towards an employee. There customer service obviously sucks. To tie one to the other is pointless. And drawing in political undertones to a thread about poor customer service is not just divisive it’s poorly thought out in general.

And by the way Seattle is 63.9% higher than Providence Rhode Island when it comes to cost of living Just saying.

Couldn’t agree anymore. Spot on.

It all started in in attempt to figure out why the customer service was so bad, and poor pay was one of the theories raised.

Is it true? I don't know. But unless Minelab explains in detail why its customer service is so bad, we are free to speculate.

I'm sure $33 an hour is great pay in some parts of the country. That's about 70k a year. Here in So.Cal , take a third off for taxes right off the bat. If your a couple , making $140k+ your doing just OK. But you all know how California is set up. Real Estate is hot right now here. My buddy just sold his condo for $550k. It's a 2 bedroom , 2 bath , 2 car detached garage , 1050 square feet. HOA dues are $450 a month alone. This same condo was about $350k , 5 years ago.

Anyway , back to minelab. Accountability and transparency are truly the key to a successful business. Dancing around and sugarcoating things , smart folks will see it. If they had a smart marketing team , they would have increased the price of the 600 too. Not just the 800. Why did they do that ? Ever notice not to many repair complaints on the 600 compared to the 800 ? They KNEW they were going to have alot of warranty issues with the 800. It's the cost of business. But now , it's ours....that extra $50. And honestly , I don't even want to hear their lame duck excuse. Because it will be a lie. You can't trust them right now....btw : I still think the Nox is a good machine , just don't get it wet !
