Yall have totally dicked up this thread talking about minimum wages.
And therein lies the paradox.
In 1982 I was a climber for a local tree service and the pay rate at that time in this area was not $15 per hour, but $3.35 per hour. During that time in my life, I did other things to raise money. I dug and sold medicinal roots, and scrapped aluminum and copper. It was a struggle, and I did not get a participation trophy. Now, I am not "blowing my own horn" but we now live in an entitlement driven society. There are very few willing to "work their way up the ladder", and/or resort to entrepreneurial methods to attempt to raise their standard of living. Drug and alcohol addiction is a HUGE issue as well with respect to prospects/employees, and sadly that problem will continue to spiral. With that said, employers have a tough row to hoe. I am the maintenance manager for a river resort, and I see the ineptitude of new hires every season. Guys want higher pay, but can't even read a tape measure. Or they don't know the difference between vise grips and a pipe wrench. Granted, this is an economically depressed area, but they have no work ethic. Most are lazy, as well as weak, both physically and morally. If I sound highly opinionated on this subject, it is because I feel that I consider myself more than qualified to speak on it. Those who have visited my profile will note that there is no biography. That is because during the late 70's I lived on the streets for two years as a homeless man. (Yea, I could have skipped that part in the bio. but the whole honesty thing, you know???) Anyway, I know what it is to have NOTHING. And I can guarantee you that even though I did a lot of jobs that sucked, and for pay that sucked, but I survived. And now I can now look back on that time of my life and be grateful for each of those opportunities to do the suck job for the suck pay, because I just as "easily" could not have survived! Someone once said that Hard times create strong men... Strong men create good times... Good times create weak men... Weak men create hard times... It has been my experience that when employees pony up, then employers pony up. Just sayin'
GL and HH! And Scuba, I hope you get the whole Milelab thing resolved soon!

Just a little update...Minelab has had my Nox for 21 days now and still no word on when I might get it back.
Minelab customer service sucks, I agree let's get back to the topic
Want a 6 figure salary,gotta get a education or a state job
Fake news! Dude have you seen what some folks make off tips?
There's the law, and there's what people do.
How has this become a minimum wage thread?
You guys are going to love the ad I just saw on FB. Minelabe is actually replying to people thanking them for their support. I just asked them if they could reply to some of their emails about warranty work. MAybe pick up the phone when it rings....
I'm probably going to be in FB time out soon.

We have a successful tree service here in Pennsylvania, and it’s hard to find help. Not just from the covid, but anytime. I’ve let more grown men go because they can’t stay off the phone, whatever they’re doing is more important than earning a living I guess. Not sure what the country pays but we start at $15 per hour, and when I place help wanted adds I just get crickets.
My workman's comp is 36 percent, tag that into $15 an hour and it turns into $21 an hour I'm paying for somone who knows absolutely nothing,so how much is a company supposed to pay inexperienced people starting out? If you ever have a business, you'll definitely see it another way.
I guess in my defense I never had an issue with mt E-Trac and never sent it in. I have had issues 3 times with one of my Equinox machines and 4 times with the other.
There is no reason that someone should have to send 2 cheaply made detectors back to a company to be fixed. Minelab should have made their Equinox detectors right before they released them, instead of expecting people to send them back when problems arise, then have to wait on taking their good old time of fixing them.
Minelab got the E-Trac and the X-Terra right, what is their problem with making the Equinox right before they released it?
It ties into Minelab being too cheap to hire enough good help. If they paid a solid wage, they'd have enough help to get the repairs done in a day or two.
