Fisher Impulse AQ detector update

Dont know that i agree with what he said there Craig. In most instances you can get a FEELING something isnt what it should be. I realize gold comes with a lot of mixed metal..... but if its coming in as a coin and you know it should read say 10 based on weight and size.... those you just have to have looked at. Even brass will pass a 10k acid test ..... thats why those that fake it normally make it 10K. Ive got a wedding bad .... VERY OLD that is marked 18K.... obviously brass. I dont believe we will ever be able to hunt JUST for gold.... thou i hear they are working on DENSITY now. Timing now days...... market timing especially is important. Wait to long and some other company will steal your thunder. I dont want them to rush this machine..... i want it right. But i get stuff that leads me to believe its ready ..... only to find out maybe it aint. SOOOO if they opt NOT to do this machine will we know? I dont believe Fisher or Whites can keep producing the same machines.

Do a sniff test Dew... brass has a scent.. gold does not..

I have different sources that tell me.. I'm not going to say at this time... I do know one thing though.. it has a coil issue... come on Surf Devil

Here is a simple question Earl... why do you need 6 scoops and multiple detectors? Do you suffer from OCD? Sure looks like it

EU prices always include VAT - Value Added tax. In France it is currently 20%. Subtract that and (if LE.JAG’s info is correct) it might give you a possible US price - of about $2000. My own guess is more like $2500.

I suspect that the AQ will sell as well or even better in France than the US initially. The fact that the designer - Alexandre Tartar is French and the greater exposure that the AQ has had on French language detecting forums will ensure a high level of interest.

I agree you have shipping tax and a couple others that could reduce the price here. But I’m expecting $2500 as well. Are we thinking EU might get the first batch? If there is a limited amount.... seems pre-order would make sense. Still ...have we heard anything from a Fisher Rep? Otherwise we just keep guessing as to WHEN. Didn’t JAG also say we would see it before Christmas? No idea when production started.... but if they ain’t speaking or seeing hype yet we have to be MONTHS to go

I think I'll put my pre-order down on this baby 1st since it seems I'll be able to get before the AQ.

Time for an update. Production hardware has been qualified and tested. A snag developed when EU certification of some of the materials turned out to be more difficult than anticipated. The result is that market launch is delayed for at least some weeks.

This created a small problem for Fisher as they needed to sell at least one AQ this year for reasons having to do with copyright. Tim Mallory contacted me and asked if I would be interested in buying one. As you can imagine, my answer was how do you want your money?

It arrived this afternoon in a plain brown box. I will open it tomorrow and get ready for a Skype call with Alexandre Tartar, the designer in France. He wants to make sure I don’t go off on a tangent and screw things up! I have handled two of the prototypes, but it’s a great opportunity for me so of course, I will call him.

I am stuck in Arizona for all of January at least, but hope to get West after that. Meanwhile I will learn a lot about it’s depth, how the iron ID works and techniques for using all metal as well.

I have posted elsewhere more info on my future plans for involvement with the AQ as well as the follow on machines - with the nugget machine coming next.

Lyle, that's all fine and good to test it in the desert but we all want to know, how will it hold up submerged shoulder deep for a few hours? If it does not stand up to those conditions it will just be another POS to any serious water hunter...
Take the risk, throw it in your pool for a few hours and lets see if it holds up! Any serious manufacturer would be fine with that test...

I know that mine did a pressure test at the factory - i have the email trail about it. Good enough for now. If i decide to toss my expensive and unique (so far) detector into a boiling pool at Yellowstone, I will let you know. Lol

Seriously, cut me some slack. I am 73, we are moving into a new house and staging the old one for sale, my cat is very demanding, my wife thinks metal detectors are barely tolerable. I will report relevant information and results I get in due course.

I can report that on a Skype call with Alexandre, the Chief designer, we checked out my new toy and it is within spec.

I’m not stuck in AZ.....send it to me ....I have a pool, the Gulf AND the ocean :laughing: You sound busy. I hate moving.... then you have the site to prepare... manual to help on .... and life’s normal stuff. Well I’m retired and to lazy to hit a lick. Hey... I hear ya on the significant other and metal detectors.... I used to be married. It was her or detecting..... difficult choice

I read that forum when I have time... instead of linking to it I will bring the video that was posted there...
